I just bought an Epson CX3810 as a secondary printer, I also currently have a Canon S330. The Epson is a great value for the money, and you'll be hard pressed to find another all-in-one at this price point with the quality of the Epson CX3810. Having owned several earlier Epsons, other Canons, and an HP printer (all ink-jets), I am making comparisons based on similar level printers, not more expensive laser printers.
SCANNER - a nice feature to have, is of high quality and includes software to give you fast one touch options, or more advanced custom and professional scanning options.
COPIER - great one-touch colour and B&W copy choices. Fast, clear copies, and surprisingly good colour copies of pictures. *BONUS* the CX3810 DOES NOT need to be connected to a computer to copy, making copying on the go very fast and convenient. The quality of on-the-go photo copies is not as high as a card-reading dedicated photo printer such as the Canon SELPHY, but it is much cheaper to run, and so you get what you pay for.
PRINTER - Very nice. 4 individual ink cartridges mean that you only replace what is worn out, saving you some cash. I have made many colour prints (high quality glossies from my digital camera) so far, and the ink levels haven't dropped at all (approximately 50). I am impressed at the colour management of this unit, and the "DuraBrite Ultra" print technology is crisp and clear. Includes software to scan and correct old photos for reprinting, easy to use and effective. There are also printing options for photo enhancement.
Text printing is clear and crisp, with no alignment issues or grainyness apparent. The CX 3810 has several printing modes, including draft, text, text and image, photo or best photo. The draft mode will save you ink, and can clearly be read, but is faint. COSTS - Replacement cartridges are not the cheapest, but are much more affordable than Lexmark and HP. Costs are comparable to Canon inkjet printers. Replacement of all 4 colours using genuine EPSON products will set you back approximately $40.00 USD. If you use generic products or a refill kit, costs are much lower. Generic cartridges can be found on EBay as low as $15.00 USD for 2 sets of black/magenta/cyan/yellow. I have already replaced the OEM Epson cartirdges with generic products, and they do not negatively impact print quality.
OVERALL - Great value for the money. At this price, the CX3810 will fit into any budget, and it sure to please.
