Grandmother's Garden Quilt - 1928 Nancy Page
The patterns for Garden Bouquet originated in 1928 and 1929 in series of newspaper patterns by Florence LaGanke Harris (published under the name of the Nancy Page Quilt Club.) Each week, LaGanke presented one pattern for the quilt and gave readers a week to complete the block.
The pattern includes: 17 flower designs (the Rose is repeated in all 4 corners), a basket pattern and a quilting diagram.
In addition to the pattern, the reader was treated to a fictitious story about a quilt group and their leader, Nancy Page. In the group, they shared stories, and decided on what colors to use for their flowers. Contributions for the patterns were sent from readers in all parts of the country.
Many quilters recreate this pattern today! The pattern includes a pieced bottom and appliqued flowers on top. Any of the designs can be used separately for pillow tops, runners, tablecloths and other pieces for your home or for gifts.
