Grand Theft Auto San Andreas
Published by Rockstar Games and released for the PlayStation2 in October of 2004, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is the much-anticipated sequel to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. San Andreas is a fictional world based on a combination of California and Nevada. It includes three major cities: Las Venturas, based on Las Vegas, Los Santos, based on Los Angeles, and San Fierro, based on San Francisco.
The main character of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which is set in 1992, is Carl Johnson, or C.J. After his older brother, Sweet, accuses him of murdering their other brother Brian, C.J. leaves Los Santos for Liberty City, where he lives for five years. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has C.J. returning to his home town for the funeral of his mother only to find problems brewing within his family and the Grove Street Families, his former gang.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is full of many characters and various gangs, including the Ballas, Vagos, Triads, and several Mafia families. A number of well-known actors provided voices for the characters in the game, including Peter Fonda, James Woods, Chris Penn, Samuel L. Jackson, Ice T, David Cross, and others.
Comprising a full fictional world, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has its own radio stations, its own popular drink (Sprunk), and detailed maps. In addition to the PlayStation version, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is also available for the Xbox and the PC. After receiving an "Adults Only" rating following a controversy involving a modified version of the game, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was re-released in a second, M-rated ("Mature") version.
