I bet some of you have gone without your morning coffee several times.  I was just blogging with some eBay friends and someone's coffee pot had broken and they had not had their morning coffee.  There could be many other reasons too, electricity went off, not enough coffee for a full pot, etc., well I am here to help you fix a pot of camp coffee, so you can survive that drive to work!

Now you will need some way of heating water, as long as you have a gas stove or a gas grill, or a campfire, if you are camping, we can do this and if done right, "it ain't bad at all".  What we do here at our house, and we do this often, because our power goes off frequently, we take a cook pot, a 2 quart will work fine, put in the amount of cups of water you need, then let this water come to just a light boil, you don't need a rolling boil, you might burn yourself!  As soon as you get that light boil, put in about a tablespoon of coffee for each cup of water.  Put a lid on the pot for just a minute or two, don't stir, just let those grounds settle to the bottom.  Now there are several schools of thought at this point, my Dad used to add a pinch of salt to the mix, he was sure this helped to settle the grounds, but honestly folks, your coffee is ready to pour in your cup without doing anything else!  Now if you are really good at this you won't even need a strainer, me, I still use a tea strainer, because I don't like those coffee grounds between my teeth.

I was chatting with someone a while ago that called this Polish coffee, hey that is OK with me, as long as I get my coffee.  This has just been a fun little guide, a lot of folks will never have to worry, maybe they are not coffee drinkers.  For me, the morning does not begin until I have had my first cup of coffee, java, jo,or what ever you might call it.  Thanks for reading this guide, and remember, you might need to know this someday!

A final note, if you are camping out, be sure you have a safe campfire and be sure to follow Smokey Bear's rules about campfires!
