I took the time to try to write a guide for helping everyone. I did not write this for me. I knew the topic in this guide. If I go to this much trouble to write it and check the spelling and make doulbe sure that the info I give you is correct. Do you think that after you read it you could at least tell me if it helped you or not? If it is no good then I will take it off and replace it with something else. Still if you liked it and you think someone else might and I do mean might like it then tell me it was at least OK and I will keep it on the site. If I do not start getting some good votes on this stuff I have written then I just might take it all off line. Thanks but two Guides have had over one hundred readers and no votes yes or no. So lets help all of the folks out there.

With the current over the top rush on Gold and Silver we are seeing many thing that are not so nice happening. The US Government Mint has been issuing coins that although they may say ONE DOLLAR or ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS on them are by far worth much much more than that. We have Silver Bullion Coins That are listed as a value of ONE US DOLLAR. We have Gold Coins that are called Eagles that have a Value of from 5 US Dollars to 50 US Dollars They are .999fine gold which is so close to 24kt gold that there is no real difference. The 4 Gold coins that are Eagles are the
$5 Dollar coin is 1/10 troy oz.
$10 Dollar coin is 1/4 troy oz.
$20 Dollar coin is 1/2 troy oz.
$50 Dollar Coin is 1 Troy oz.
Now they have added the Gold Buffalo coin which has a image of the American Indian on one side and the Buffalo on the other. It to is sometimes available in $5-$50 dollar denominations. The biggest problem is that the mint can not come up with enough gold to fill all the orders they would or could have. This and many other factors is causing a very major turn to folks being able to have the coins they want.
Not only do we have the Silver and Gold coins available. but now we also have the Platinum Coins also. They range from $10- $100 Dollar Coins
$10 Dollar coin is 1/10 troy oz of PURE platinum.
$25 Dollar Coin is 1/4 troy oz of PURE Platinum.
$50 Dollar Coin is 1/2 troy oz of PURE Platinum.
$100 Dollar Coin is 1 troy oz of PURE Platinum.
Now a quick run down of the older real coins we have had over the years.
The Silver Dollars that the United States Mint made for many years was at most .900 fine silver. This was to make the coin last longer so it did not were out so quickly.
Also the Silver Dollars weighed only 412 1/2 grains which is quite a bit lighter than the 1 ounce coins that we have now. This means that the older coins if they are old enough that they do not show a complete date on the only have a value of 77% So if Silver gets up to $20. a troy oz. Then that old worn out coin that has been laying in the junk drawer for ten years is only worth $15.40 not $20.00 as the price of silver.
The best bet for any and all of you who are dabbling in to buying a few silver or gold or platinum coins. is to buy a copy of the Handbook of United States Coins 2009 or later by R.S.Yeoman either the red book or the blue book will do.
Do not spend your grocery money for buying any type of precious metal. Keep it fun and enjoy it. You can not make something out of nothing. The worst thing in the world is to have to sell your precious metal at a loss because the market is in a slump. Never put the Rent money into buy gold. Best of all have fun by keeping it light.
