 24 Karat Gold (also stated as 24K or 24Kt.) is pure gold That is it is 24 parts out of 24 parts Gold or 100% pure Gold Another way of reading gold content is .999 fine gold out of 1000 parts gold Essentially it is the same

18 Kt gold is 18 our of 24 parts pure gold mixed with 6 parts of alloy It can be expressed as .750 and is 75% pure gold and 25% alloy

The same holds true for 14Kt Gold It is 14 parts pure gold mixed with 10 parts of an alloy All except the pure are mixed with copper and or brass or similar alloy
