Hello, I'm Karen Mitzi;

This is me trying to get that next Best Deal for You.  I like to consider myself the Queen of Comfort.  I have been a Plus Size gal all my life.  As you may know, it's not always easy trying to find the best quality, best fitting clothes that didn't put a hurtin' on your wallet.  I figured others out there have the same problem and I thought "Hey, maybe I can help others by developing a website that ladies can find what they need and shop privately.  Check out my About Me Page!

So that's how Mitzi's Fashion Boutique came to be.  I developed this quide to help you make better decisions as you look through mine or any clothes store.  Despite the fact that I have one of the best prices in town (wink, wink); you shouldn't buy clothes JUST because of the price.

As the self proclaimed "Queen of Comfort", to look and feel good is your ultimate goal!

Also, you are not fooling anyone by wearing those Over-Sized, Loose-Fitting Clothes!  This can backfire on you and actually make you look Wider!

Comfort can be stylish and take 10lbs off of you!

Wearing Black / Navy / Charcoal is a common way to look slimmer but you have Other options.

With every goal comes smaller steps:

Step 1: Show Off Your Best Features.

Step 2: Minimize your "Not So Best" Features.

Simple, yes? But Wait! BEFORE we play Dress Up, there are a couple of things I want you do:

  1. Stand Straight. Look Up. Chest Out!  Good posture is the key to looking and feeling good.  Why do you think those models balance books on their heads?  It's not so that the information might permeate their skulls.

    2.   Choose your Body Type. There are Basically 4 Types

  • Top Heavy - you are more rounded with weight evenly distributed and appear more heavy on the top than the bottom.
  • Bottom Heavy - you are wider at the hips and slimmer at the shoulders with a small bust.
  • Straight/Even - you are evenly distributed weight and smaller bust.
  • Hourglass - you are larger in the hips and bust with a small waist.

Alright - Now Let's Begin!

You picked your Shape above now Scroll Down to find Your Type:

Top Heavy: Main Goal - Look Longer / Draw the Eye Down

    --Do's-

  • Choose long jackets without shoulder pads
  • Choose tops that fit loose and slims down to hug the hips and waist
  • Look longer by dressing one color - down to the shoes!
  • Bring the Eye Down by wearing pants or skirts that are pleated
  • If your legs are in good shape, wear shorter hem lengths
  • Choose thin materials like Cotton or Cotton Jersey

   --Don'ts-

  • Do not wear blouses with fancy details and ruffles.
  • Do not wear tight clothes but go for straight simple lines
  • Do not wear clingy fabrics on top, choose darker colors on top.
  • Do not wear tops that are too light.

Bottom Heavy: Main Goal - Even Out / Draw the Eye Up

    -- Do's

  • Even Out by using small shoulder pads.
  • Wear dark pants or stockings
  • Use clothes with vertical lines and patterns to make an up or down illusion.
  • Wear V-necks and skirts with slits up the sides
  • Wear long tops that go past your hips
  • Wear prints on tops only
  • Choose jackets, tailored suits and shirt waist dresses with straight, classic cuts.
  • Lighter color on Tops brings the eye up
  • Flat front pants and side or back zippers will flatter your figure.
  • Choose accessories close to the same color clothes you are wearing including shoes.  This gives an unbroken slimmer look.

    -- Don'ts

  • Do not wear clothing that is too tight
  • Do not wear big Shoulder pads (unless you are a Quarterback!)
  • Do not wear large patterns on pants or skirts
  • Do not wear bulky fabrics
  • Do not wear very wide pinafore skirts

Straight / Even: Main Goal - Even Out / Draw the Eye Up

    -- Do's

  • Wear loose flowery clothing and draw attention towards your face with colorful earings and scarves
  • Use patterns in your Tops or Bottoms to add Dimensions

    -- Don'ts

  • Stay away from shoulder pads and bulky Jackets

HourGlass: Main Goal - Show off your Figure

     -- Do's

  • Wear fabrics that show off your figure by draping loosely
  • Pockets, pleats and tight pants will show off your midsection
  • Emphasize your wasit using belts
  • If you Bust is Best, show off some cleavage with a V-neck
  • If your Legs are Best wear shorter skirts
  • Wear prints in places where you want people to look

    -- Don'ts

  • Avoid anything that is too tight but go for a more tailored look.
  • Avoid any clothes with too tight a waist
  • Do not wear blocks of color, i.e Black Top and White Pants

OK... I know it is hard to Pigeon Hole you into a Body Shape so here are a few more ideas for other body parts...

Necks:

  • High collars and short necklaces shortens the neck

Legs:

  • A scarf or belt that hangs down toward the legs will make the legs appear longer
  • Knitted texture, lace, floras, prints, and plaids can assist in creating an illusion
  • Shoes with straps shortens the legs.

Torso:

  • The torso can be shortened or narowed with seam lines, belts, bows and collars.

Don't Forget to Accessorize!

  • Shoes depend on your height more than your weight
  • Use an all-in-one undergarment shaper's and control top pantyhose.
  • Accessories that are too small will make you look larger
  • Go sleeveless! Use a cape, shawl, sheer top or Bolero jacket.

5 Questions to ask yourself the next time you go shopping

  1. As the Queen of Comfort, I must ask "Is it Comfortable?"
  2. Is it easy to wear?  If you are too busy think about it then make it easy.
  3. Is it machine wash or dry clean only?
  4. Is it affordable?  Quality counts! Short Term Pain (cost)=Long Term Gain (lasts longer)
  5. Is it seasonal? Or will it vanish like a fad?

Inspiring facts I found on the Internet - Hope you enjoy!

  • Fat was once called "the silken layer".
  • The Victorians associated "plumpness" with health, attractiveness and a happy outlook.
  • Fat is a sign of fertility.  The soft roundness of a womans hips, thighs, belly and breasts are a sign that she is a fertile adult.
  • The soft female roundedness has been considered attractive and desriable in most cultures throughout human history.
  • Ultra-skinny models weigh less than 25% than the average American woman.
  • Models in magazines use lighting, make-up, photo retouching and other special affects to create that "unreal" look.
  • Surveys show that women tend to be more critical of womens 'bodies' than men.
  • If Barbie were a human, her feet would not be able to support her long legs and oversized chest.
  • Real bodies come in Every Shape and Size!

I hope you found this Guide informative!  I also hope you come and visit Mitzi's Fashion Boutique!

Thank-you;

Karen Mitzi
