The intent of this Guide is to make new Glass Candy Container collectors aware of what to watch for when considering buying subject Glass Candy Container, so they won't be disappointed and buy the Reproduction.
The original Mule Pulling Barrel (shown above) was issued in the late 1930's; there was a reproduced version made in the 70's or 80's. If you were to see them side by side the difference is very obvious. The reproduced one is a lower quality of glass and lacking sharp detail. The very noticable difference is the smaller size of the Mule's ears on the reproduction. Below shows the original's ears.
Unfortunately, I bought the reproduction when I first started collecting Glass Candy Containers back in the 70's. When I learned of the difference I was able to find an original and got rid of the reproduction (not on eBay - sold it at a garage sale).
