Taking Pre-Orders for Girl Scout cookies is a big NO NO. If you view your contract that you signed for your daughter to sell cookies, it CLEARLY STATES NO INTERNET SALES. You may email you friends, your family, and take orders in that manner, but you may NOT sell them via a Web based sale such as EBAY!
Why can I not sell Girl Scout cookies here on Ebay since it does help out the organization and my daughter's/grand-daughter's/niece's etc. troop? There are many parts to that answer. The clearest one is that you signed a contract agreeing that you will not do so. Even if you are not the parent who signed this agreement, the girl who you are selling on her behalf had it signed. Girl Scout honor which each scout is learning from a small age means following the rules or laws that govern us. That in itself should be enough of a reason to not sell them here because you as an adult need to set an example of following rules. It may help little "Susie" get the most boxes sold in that troop but she did not sell them and learned nothing from the experience because someone sold them on Ebay and broke the rules. In turn maybe some other little Girl Scout who knocks on someone's door will not get to sell that person a box because you sold them a box already on Ebay.
Yes, I hear your mind working away at a rationale for selling them here. People in other parts of the world can't get them. Right, is that what you were going to say? You are incorrect. If people out there want to order cookies they can get them through GirlScoutCookies.ORG. This will help them find a troop near them or to the council by them to get cookies if they are currently selling or to the 1800 # where they can get some cookies. The local council in their area will earn the money for that sale which benefits all the Girl Scouts in that particular area. The money for cookie sales goes towards camps, financial aid to girls who might not be able to participate in scouts etc. in that particular council. If you sell them here on Ebay, the council in your area benefits and this takes money away from another council. Getting the picture now? When you sell cookies on Ebay it does hurt other Girl Scout councils and Troops who are working very hard to earn money to support Girl Scout trips, camps, and other functions.
When you sell cookies for little "Susie" here on Ebay you are not helping her to learn the skills that she would doing it on her own the right way. Many successful business women today say they got their start selling Girl Scout Cookies. Girls practice useful life skills like planning, decision-making, and customer service. During cookie activities, girls are members of a team working towards a common goal, with each girl striving to do her best. Did you know Hillary Clinton was a Girl Scout?
If you are in my council selling Girl Scout cookies, you had better close shop here on Ebay because I am going to turn you in immediately to San Jacinto Council. My council does not play around with rule breakers. The troop associated with the girl you are selling cookies for here on Ebay can lose ALL proceeds of the cookie sale because she/YOU did not follow the rules. So, if you are in Houston,Texas watch out. I will find you because I look. I also turn in other rule breakers from other councils especially when I see they have 20 different auctions going on flagrantly breaking the rules. It is easy to find a council by going to GirlScoutUSA.org to the council look up section. You enter the city, and state and boom there it is.
Cookies being sold here past the time where the troops, the girls, and the councils have already been credited for these cookies is a different story. That would mean a troop got "stuck" with these cookies or someone bought too much or a business did and the cookie season is over and booths are not allowed any longer. That is a different issue entirely. The active season where there are Girl Scouts all over taking orders and booths open selling is the period of time where NO ONE SHOULD BE SELLING GIRL SCOUT COOKIES ON A WEB BASED RETAIL SITE SUCH AS EBAY OR AMAZON ETC.
**Who is this woman? If that is what you are asking about me. I have been a with Girl Scouts now for almost 9 years as an adult volunteer and leader. I have been a Girl Scouts for 19 years total. I am an active participant in my Service Unit as both a delgate, press-corp representative, and leader. I am very pationate about Girl Scouting and believe whole heartedly in the raising up of each young girl to be the best she can be and strive for greatness which is achievable by each of us. I also believe firmly that leading (as well as parenting) by example is important and to do so one must set a good example for those who we are intrusted.
