Want to add some fun to your next Thanksgiving celebration? These easy and inexpensive ideas will make this Thanksgiving get-together memorable for your guests of all ages.
Turkey Treats
We know how much kids love to play hide and seek, this game takes off from there. Before the big meal purchase a bag of candy corn. Put 5-7 pieces of candy in several small ziplock bags and hide them around your house. When guests find a bag of treats they must gobble and strut like a turkey before they can pick up their "Turkey Treat". Be sure to have someone snap some pictures!
Giggles and Guffaws
A fun way to keep guests talking around the table is to write a Thanksgiving themed riddle or joke on the inside of their placecard or napkin. You can search the internet to find jokes or pick up a book such as "101 Thanksgiving Knock-Knocks, Jokes and Riddles".
Fill in the Blanks
For after dinner giggles try some Mad Libs. You can either purchase a book full of these fill-in-the-blank stories or compose your own. For example:
The Pilgrims sailed to America on a (adjective)____________ship named (compound word)_________________. They landed at Plymouth (noun)_______________. The Indians taught the Pilgrims how to (verb)_____________ (type of food)___________ in the fields. They all gave thanks to God by (verb ending in ing)___________ together. This was the First Thanksgiving (noun)____________.
My kids love these stories and had a ball creating them and reading them back to our guests. It is fun to add guests names into the stories too.
Just a few easy, fun activities such as these can make your celebration so memorable and will let your guests know one of the things you are most thankful for is them!
