When it comes to gifts, why not take your Scottish mother back to her roots with a little piece of Scotland?
Cornishware
If you really want to splurge on mom, cornishware is the way to go. If your mom is Scottish, nostalgic and over 40, cornishware will likely get her all warm and fuzzy. The T G Green line of ceramic kitchenware comes in an assortment of pieces, from milk jugs to sugar and coffee containers. Cornishware comes in an assortment of colors, but is almost always decorated with thick stripes. When looking for cornishware, make sure your piece bears the T G Green label, usually on the bottom. Keep in mind that authentic cornishware is old. Most pieces will be used, so make sure to ask about any craving or cracks along your piece.
Scottish-Themed CD's
Did your Scottish mother go nuts when Braveheart came out? If she doesn't already own the soundtrack, buy it for her. If she already happens to own the Braveheart soundtrack, there are many Scottish themed alternatives that would bring joyful tears to any Scottish mother. Celtic Woman is one. 5 women pair their beautiful voices with traditional instruments to bring an array of music, from folk to classic, to more popular music, including some remakes. There are about a dozen Celtic Woman cd's and at least on DVD to choose from.
British Candy
This year get your Scottish mother some authentic British candy. Diet or no diet, she won't be able to resist a chocolate blast from the past. Stuff her stocking with some Cadbury's Flake chocolate bars or Maltesers and watch happily as her mouth waters over British candy she hasn't had since childhood.
