When buying a bra, it can be differcult to get the right size - even if you try it on first! This being said; buying online can be even more of a challange! Different brands run different size-wise, and European and US/UK sizes are not the same... This guide is primary made to give you an idea on how I find the right bra, and also how I convert bra-sizes when I offer them online (here at eBay). I am not saying this is for all, but it is a guideline! :)

  • Personally I find most bras to run pretty much the same when it comes to band-size, but they differ in cups.
  • UK and some European brands tend to run bigger cup-wise, than French and Italian brands. These manufactorers also label their bras differently.

  • European, French and Italian bras (below referred to as Eur) are labelled A, B, C, D, E, F and so on.
  • UK bras are the same up to D-cups, but then there is a difference - as UK have double D (DD), and then E. This means that a European/French/Italian E is the same as a UK DD.

Converting:

Eur 32/70D is the same as UK32D

Eur 32/70E is the same as UK32DD

Eur 32/70F is the same as UK32E

  • Half cups, plunge, push up and full cups also run differently. In genral , you can say plunge/push up and most half cups run smaller cup-wise than full cups.

UK Rigby & Peller run generous in cup-size, espesially in their full cup models (like the one in the picture). The same goes for Fantasie and Silhouette (also UK brands). European brands like Prima Donna and Marie Jo run approx the same; generous in full cup models, average in half cup and plunge/push up models.

This blue bra is a French Aubade. Labelled Eur 32E, but fits like a UK 32DD.  This wine red plunge style from UK Freya run a little less genrous in cups - so here I find a UK 32E to fit like a full UK 32DD (just to confuse (?!) you; this means it fits approx like a Eur 32E - even if UK 32E normally converts to Eur 32F).

Note that many people use a bra with too big band. As for cup-size, you need to go UP one cup-size for every band-size you go DOWN - to get the same fit in the cups. For example, a 32D fits approx the same as a 30DD. Or like a 34C, if you go the other way (up in band, instead of down).

Still totally confused?! Ask, and I'll do my best to help!! :)
