I have sold many books on ebay and I have learned several things from my successes and failures. First, always utilize as much space as possible in the title. The more words you have, the more likely you are to have people view your item. Secondly, do your research. You can do this by typing your item into the search. If the author is a good seller, you will want to be sure and type their name in your title. Or maybe the subject is popular, so you will want to put that key word in your title. For example, "Amish" is very popular. Thirdly, many people collect items from their home state. So if the book is set in Oklahoma or where ever, you may want to put that in your title or description. Always check the copyright page to see if your book is a 1st edition. This is important to list in your title or description. Next, I have found it is good to find items that have something in common and list them together. For example, I found a vintage Curious George book at a thrift shop and a Curious George coloring book at a dollar store and I now had a lot instead of just one book. A biography of Helen Keller could be put with a book on blindness or a braille book and you now have a unit study. Books can be mailed cheaply through media mail and sometimes bound printed matter and I have learned that most of the time items mailed through media mail arrive fairly quickly. I always offer a shipping discount and remind viewers to view my other items. I give an exact shipping amount so the potential bidder won't have to wonder if they're going to get cheated when it comes time to pay. Being willing to ship world-wide can also increase your sales, but be aware that overseas shipping can be unpredictable. You can find out shipping amounts for the US and to other countries by going to the United States Postal Service web site. Learn what sells good and look for these items at thrift shops, garage sales, etc. I have also found that dollar stores often have some neat items. You can also buy books on ebay that may not be listed as well as they could be that you can resale for more money or you may find books hidden in a lot that are valuable by themselves. I have found that Christian books are good sellers, as well as homeschool books and series books listed in lots, such as the Boxcar Children and Magic School Bus. After listing the item, I write down the listing number and go to Want it Now to see if anyone is looking for something I have listed. I have sold several books this way. I also email past buyers if I have listed an item similar to something they bought from me in the past. I have also found that it seems that the peak time when the most people are on ebay is weekends, so I often adjust the number of days of my listings so that they will end on Saturday or Sunday. Lastly, after the item has sold and been paid for, I ship it as soon as possible. I have used many inventive packages to cut down on shipping costs. I even save cereal boxes to mail books in. Just be sure and mark wording out or cover it. I hope these ideas help. Thanks, Tammy - momsbooknook
