Has anyone ever told you that you have the gift of gab?  Do you like to talk to people or be creative?  Perhaps you want to be a singer, a songwriter, or even an actor.  You could dream really big for any of these things or you could start with something that you can get your hands on right now.  Radio

You may have heard that only computers are running radio stations these days and in alot of cases that is true.  However,  there are still many ways that you can use getting into radio to your advantage.

How do you get started?  Like most things it's a paradox.  You go for the big career by reaching out for the small one.  You humble yourself and go to a small radio station.  Tell the program director you're willing to do anything that needs to be done and then get in there and do it!  They might not put you on the air right away but it never fails one day someone is not going to make it in or doesn't want to come in and you'll get your shot.

My experience in radio allowed me right at 20 years of doing shows and eventually morning shows.  One of my greatest assets was learning how to produce songs and commercials.  I've interviewed many great singers, actors, and artists along the way like Michael McDonald, Whoopie Goldberg, and played celebrity basketball with Jenna from Survivor.  The key I found was to be willing to work.  There is more work in radio than most realize.

Today the experience has allowed me to own a studio producing radio and television jingles and commercials.  I produce cds and consult.  I still fill in for a morning show every now and then but I truly get to enjoy everything I like to do.

Yes in the beginning I would dream the huge dream too...there's nothing wrong with that just remember there are alot of small dreams that have to come true before any big dream can be realized.  There are too many examples of people who have the BIG DREAM explode before they learn how to handle it with small ones.  If it comes too fast....it cannot last.

Call a radio station.  Not a great big one.  A little a.m. one is best so you can go make alot of mistakes on your way to a big dream realized.   Along the way you will find yourself around record executives, performers, artists, advertisers and many others who may play a part in your success!
