GENERAL RULES FOR STAIN REMOVAL
-
treat the stain right away
-
test the method on a hidden area of the garment before treating the stain
-
rub the fabric from the back of the fabric, not the front
-
follow the manufactors care instructions on the garment
-
rinse the removal product from the garment before washing
-
do not dry the garment until the stain is out (the dryer will set the stain)
-
dont rub the stain but blot it
-
use a clean white towel to bolt the stain
-
alway read the label on the stain removal product
ALL PURPOSE STAIN REMOVAL
- salt
- baking soda
- lemon juice
- club soda
- hair spay
How to remove these
- Mascara, eye shadow and lipstick------dampen the stain with warm water and rub with liquid detergent with (color safe bleach) . Rub directly on the stain until the outline is gone. the wash as garment is directed.
- Concealer, foundation, lip liner adn eyeliner----dampen the stain with warm water and pretreat with liquid detergent or a soft paste of powder detergent and water. Rinse the treaded area and then follow cleaning directions for garment.
- Nail polish----- Place garment face down on a towel and blot the back of the fabric with nail polish remover, rinse and wash. (it may not work but is worth a try)
- Ink----try a pen eraser and if that doesnt work soak the stain with rubbing alcohol.
- Grass--- wipe the stain with alcohol and then apply a mild chlorine bleach to any remaining stain (test the fabric first)
- Coffee-----Immediately run cold water voer the fresh stain, pretreat stain with prewash and wash.
- Chocolate----use a dull knife and scrape from cloth, pretreat and wash
- Grease----Use a liquid prewash spray and wash garment in hot water. If stain is still there place stain face down on clean towel and rub with dry cleaning solvent, rinse and wash again
- paint-----soak garment in warm water and detergent for about 2 hours, then brush gently with a tooth brush and wash as directed.
- Mud -----Allow mud to try and then scrape off as much a possible, soak with warm water and detergent. then wash as normal.
- Perspiration----rub a moisten bar of soap directly on the stain, apply liquid detergent to the stain and wash.
- Blood----Put a paste of water and cornstarch on the spot, let it dry and then wash if off., wash as usual.
