I have worked in the car audio electronics industry for 6 years Hifiaudioonline . I have done everything from sales to installs. Our company is selling on eBay, just to stay competitive in this fast paced cut throat business, where customers find products online cheaper than most companies can buy it wholesale. Since we are selling our products all over the World, we are not able to install it for you. Most problems we have with brand new, factory sealed merchandise is that the item has not been properly installed, which has caused the product to malfunction and in some cases, burn up. We implore you to please, please, spend that extra dime to have a professional install your equipment, it's worth it! There are many reasons for you to have your new product professionally installed and this guide will help you make that decision.
The horror stories, we have all heard them... Many people get their friends, cousins, brothers and/or boyfriends to do their installs. The installs are not pretty and for that matter not safe. I have seen back yard installs that have started fires in cars and burnt the whole wiring harness of the car, making that car unusable and worthless. There are also many more that were brought into my store just in time to save the car from electrical disaster. We realize that the reason you buy online is to save a buck, but when it comes to your car, your baby, your high dollar investment; don't spare the buck that you saved when purchasing online. Take it to a professional in your area. If you need help finding one, ask us; Click the ask seller a question link we will find one in your area for you!
Why pay the extra money to have your new car audio system installed by a Professional?
Professional installers are trained to know the ins and outs of a car electrical system. This is why they are called professionals. They know what is safe and what is not safe to do with the headunits, amplifiers, capacitors, monitors, subwoofers, and alarms in your car. This being said, just because you are an electrician doesn' t qualify you to install car stereo components. The professional installer also has the correct tools for working on your car. When you use the right tool nothing gets broken in the car. I know there are some of you out there that have door panels that flap like a bird's wing when you close the door or scratches all over your dash from where someone used a butter knife to take out the radio instead of the correct removal keys. I dont know about you, but i dont want to have to explain to my friends, that want to see my cool new radio, why i have this nice color screen monitor in my car that is surrounded by white scratches in my nice leather dashboard. I'd say, that will definitely take away from the cool factor of that new radio. Also the professional at the shop will always be there to help you if you need some technical service with a feature of your new equipment. Unlike that guy that is your friend's friend, who's named Flint, that you will never be able to get a hold of again when you do have a question about your equipment. Also, what if something does go wrong with your equipment? That guy from down the street that you had install it for you, probably wont know how to fix it and what went wrong. But if you had it professionally installed, the shop generally will have a warranty on their labor. And most of the time it is a lifetime warranty on their work, on your car. So if your radio shuts off, or your subwoofers stop playing they will take a look at it for you, for free.
If this hasn't been a good enough reason for you to get your equipment professionally installed, think about this; Most companies (ie. dealers, like, Kenwood, Rockford Fosgate, Clarion, Pioneer etc..) won't warranty your product unless you can show them a receipt for the installation from an authorized dealer. Or, if they do still warranty the product, the warranty is generally cut down in the length of time it is good for. Instead of having a 1 year warranty on your product, since you didn' t have the product professionally installed, you now have a 90 day warranty on your equipment.
For these reasons there should be no question as to why anyone would not have their new product that they spent their hard earned money on, professionally installed.
