Are all German Paratrooper Helmets on Ebay fake? Well the majority are and that of course excludes those being sold as reproductions! So what about the relic Paratrooper Helmets? Well contrary to many nonsence guides written on Ebay it is not that easy to fake a relic helmet! Yes you can bury it and rust it outside but there is no way you can get the proper deep rusting without years of effort and if the fakers want a quick return they are not going to do that! You can get a bargain on Ebay if you love relic helmets!
I found a German Paratroop Helmet relic that had been repainted in car primer and hammerite on Ebay. It was obvious to all collectors that it was a relic repainted and as such completely devaled it! Well all you need is basic DIY skills to restore the helmet. I did this with the one I bought for £130 and have already been offered £350 for it! If you want to see how its done follow this link and Restore a German Paratrooper Helmet. Its simple yet laborious, each layer had to be removed by hand and with a cloth and no wire wool but well worth the effort!
