I own two of the Gerber LMF II knives and appreciate them greatly. They are high quality knives, made to withstand years of very abusive treatment. I do, however, wish that they had been made just a little differently, or at least that more than one style LMF II could be offered by Gerber. First of all there should be a choice of which side the serrations are on. As it is offered the serrations are on the left face of the blade, making it a superb knife for left handed people. To be a right handed knife the serrations should be on the right face of the blade, causing the cut material to move up and away from the cutting surface. Take a look for yourself. Second: Gerber should offer a tanto version of the LMF II. Tantos have superior piercing power. Period. They also look super cool and aggressive - Gerber, are you listening? And three: There should be a provision for a saw back option with the knife. It is good for everything else, so why not add a saw to the back of the blade? All-in-all the Gerber LMF II is a fine knife. At the moment the LMF II is made here in America. Buy one soon before Gerber farms out the knife to be made China, like they have with so many of their other knives. I hope this helps.
