Quartz, Jade, Turquoise and Cinnabar Gemstone Jewelry
Genuine Gemstone Jewelry comes in both silver and silver plated settings. I once thought these gemstones only came in silver, but I found out different. Which can be nice if you have a metal allergy, the hypoallergenic earrings are kind to those who have sensitive ears.
Gemstones can come in many different sizes and shapes. They sell in rectangles, squares, round beads, and even in tear drops or hearts. They can be highly polished or lightly polished or even natural.
They can be hand carved or uncut, they come in shapes or made into many sizes of beads.
Rose Quartz Earrings and Necklaces
These Rose Quartz earrings are hand carved in China and Tibet. They are a good example of the hand carving from China and Tibet and the high polished gemstones. They are approximately 3/4" in size and very smooth pretty stone. The pale pink quartz shows the lines and clouds of white that run through the quartz.
Rose Quartz is transparent to translucent in quality. Transparent rose is very rare, it doesn't show much color at all. Its hardness is 7.0. Pale pink in color Rose Quartz has a cloudy, milky appearance and is more rare then other Quartz.
I like to make my necklaces with 925 sterling silver chains because I think a gemstone is something you can have for a lifetime and so is the silver necklace if taken care of properly. I must admit though I do make the matching earrings in hypoallergenic earring wires since so many people have trouble with the metal earrings.
Gemstones loose stones and jewelry
There are all kinds of handcarved stones in jewelry and charms. Heart shaped stones in quartz comes in many different kinds, like Cherry Quartz, Purple Quartz, and Rose Quartz, there is also a white quartz which is the most common color of Quartz. A lot of the Quartz you find now is from China. We have many beads, loose and made into jewelry here on Ebay that comes from China and Tibet. They are quality stones and well polished.
This picture above is the example of variegated colors of a smooth pale red and white blend in this cherry quartz. It is a very pretty smooth tiny gemstone. It is approximately 1/2" in size and very dainty. Hand carved in Tibet and China.
Cherry Quartz is a "Man made Gemstone" because not many make this stone due to the difficulty in making it. Cherry Quartz is a clear glass and swirls of deep pink, melted in a furnace then combined with a coloring agent to produce swirling designs that give it a unique look. Then it is cooled, cut, faceted and polished like a gemstone. There is only 1 plant in all of China that makes it commercially. It varies from stone to stone in color and pattern.
Turquoise and Cherry Quartz Cross Necklaces
This hand carved cross is the variegated cherry quartz, it was made in Tibet and China. It is a smooth high polished gemstone. These gemstones make a georgeous cross, very pretty!
Cherry, Purple, and Rose Quartz Jewelry
This purple quartz is georgeous it is approximately 3/4" hand carved in Tibet and China. It is more the real color of black cherries but they call it purple. It is highly polished and smooth.
Purple Quartz varies in color from amethyst to deep purple, it has red highlights. Amethyst quartz fades in color and is more abundant and inexpensive. The Deep Purple Quartz is more expensive.
Jade can be found here on Ebay in many different colors and shapes. There are many beautiful peices of Jewelry in almost any color you may want. They are often bracelets and rings in beautiful gemstones. Many bangle bracelets are found in Jade for a very reasonable price.
Color and Intensity of the color is how to tell if you have quality Jade. Vivacity, texture, clarity and transparency all matter too when you buy Jade. Emerald green and spinach green are the most valuable. Pure white, fine yellow with delicate pink undertones are more valuable in the Far East.
Lavender Jade is very popular.
Hand carved Jade, Cinnabar and Quartz gemstones are beautiful. They are usually lightly polished to keep their natural appearance. The beads though are often highly polished to give jewelry that manufactured perfection.
Cinnabar is a mineral found often in crystals or quartz it is often found near where volcanic activity has taken place. It has a hardness of 2-2-1/2, it is red brown to scarlett in color. The most important mine is in Spain founded at least 2,500 years ago. Other important areas where Cinnabar has been found are Italy, USSR, China, New Idria, New Almaden, California, and Peru.
Most modern Cinnabar sold now is from China, it is often called Cinnabar lacquerware. It is Cinnabar heated and mixed with lacquer solvent from a sap of the lac tree. Chinese have been carving Cinnabar and using it as a glaze for over 2,300 years. Now Cinnabar is made into items like beads, jewelry, jewelry boxes, vases and figurines.
Genuine Gemstone Cinnabar Bracelets
This picture above is the detailed hand carving on a 1" Cinnabar bracelet. It is oriental with carving of a Phoenix, a dragon, and a flower. It is a thick sturdy bangle with a fine smooth ridge running around the top and bottom of the bracelet. It is finely polished it show the beautiful red of the Cinnabar with a beautiful shine.
The oriental hand carving on the Cinnabar bracelets is very detailed. It's brillant red color is just georgeous. They are usually very thick bangles in about a 1" width. They come in an average 7-1/2" to 8" size. These often have oriental designs on them.
Hearts in these gemstones can be 3/4" to 1/2" in size. They are highly polished and usually hand carved in Tibet or China.
Turquoise can be found in many different types, there is Mexican turquoise, cloudy turquoise clear smooth blue turquoise and then Chinese turquoise which has the traditional blue color but has webby fine lines that runs through it.

It is a lightly polished natural stone carved into a puffy heart charm/pendant it is an 18 mm stone or approximately 3/4 inch in size. Do not overlook Chinese turquoise it is one of the natural stones being exported from China in great amounts. They are a beautiful example of natural turquoise for a good price.
Turquoise has gone up a lot in price. It is still a very popular stone with women. It is harder to find a really good peice of genuine turquoise so much of it is marred or darkened so much, so these gemstones are a real find. Alot of the turquoise you find now is man made and it doesn't have the beauty of the natural gemstone.
Turquoise is the truth stone, it is one of the oldest stones known. China is the largest main supply of Turquoise today. Most famous suppliers of Turquoise are China, Iran, Mexico, Israel and Afghanistan. Turquoise is a very soft stone, it can fade and has to be waxed or hardened. The hardening treatment is called stabilization. Plastic liquid is absorbed into the turquoise stone making it sturdier and stable. Turquoise is known to be the symbol of friendship.
These are a beautiful green Jade tear drop shaped hand carved smooth high luster grade AAA Jade. A beautiful example of Jade both in color, quality and luster.
The Opal Hearts pictured above are from China. They appear more blue on the black background that is the only way we can get these georgeous rainbow of milky white Opals to show up. They have a rainbow of color and appear more milky white or clearer then this blue color. Unfortunately on white you have a very bad picture. These are 18mm Opal hearts, they are graded AAA, they have a high luster and are very good quality.
Turquoise rings hand carved size 5&6
The natural Chinese Turquoise rings are a rare find, no metals, just all hand carved turquoise. The gemstone ring is smooth and carved to a perfect size and is very sturdy. It is polished just enough to look finished but natural.
This amethyst hand carved Jade is a tear drop shaped gemstone. It is just georgeous in color a smooth stone in a blending of swirl of color in the gem without really seeing lines in the stone. It is a really pretty stone. These tear drops come from China too.

When you look for gemstones it is always a good idea to look for the keyword Natural. Many gemstones are advertised as reconstituted or manmade these are not the natural stones. If they are genuine gemstones you can be sure the words genuine and natural are in the description, if the seller is honest the words like reconstituted and manmade will be in the description.

Coral beads in all different colors
If you make your own jewelry it is much cheaper to buy your gemstones in strands. Do search all different catergories and words for your gemstones to find the best prices, and make sure you know the costs of shipping and get the best price for that too. Sometimes you may pay a little more if it comes from out of the country but if the price and the stone is better, it's worth the difference.
You may get a bad stone here and there, but I have found almost everyone I have ordered from are quality sellers and you don't get much that isn't quality. I have maybe 2 unused beads in every 6-8 strands of beads I've ordered. I think that is pretty perfect! Here on Ebay we have strands of Turquoise in Large size square beads and many different kinds in round beads. We sell Chinese turquoise, turquoise from Mexico and Native American turquoise, also white cloudy turquoise.
Here are more examples of beads that you don't find very often. Gemstone beads come in a big variety of sizes from 3mm to 20mm. You can get them smaller and larger then that, but that will give you the idea of the wide range of sizes you can find. They come in strands of beads which in the 4mm size is usually approximately 100 beads or 6mm is 50 beads.
