In the 1930s, Imperial Glass of Ohio, introduced a line of Glassware called Cape Cod, No. 160. It was produced during the 1930s thru the 1980s. Imperial Glass Company directed their marketing towards New Brides and Weddings for the Cape Cod Pattern. The Line became a very popular Glass Pattern. Cape Cod was 2nd only to their very popular Candlewick Line. By 1947, Imperial Glass had expanded the Cape Cod Pattern to 196 pieces. Today there are several hundred pieces that can help complete your collection.
The Cape Cod Line or Pattern was produced mainly in Crystal, but during the early years it was also produced in Amber, Ritz Blue (colbalt blue) and Ruby. In the early 1940s, Imperial Glass introduced Cape Cod with a "Cranberry Rim" or Red Flashing decoration. Between the 1950s and thru the 1970s, Imperial Glass added a few additional colors to the Cape Cod Pattern. They added Evergreen, Azalea, Heritage Blue and Verde.
There are a few more colors of the Cape Cod Pattern. Imperial Glass made a few different colors as special orders in their Star Exclusive Plan. An Example of one of these colors is Rubigold Carnival Glass.
There is not much variation to the Cape Cod Pattern. In the 1950s, due to Customer requests, Imperial Glass introduced a delicate and graceful Stemware to go with Cape Cod. The pieces had pressed stems, but blown bowls. Imperial called it the Cape Cod 3600 line. Some other variations:
