I figured maybe I could clear some things up for some buyers, but most likely upset some sellers at the same time. There is so much "fluff" floating around about what is really Labradorite and what is not, and what is Andesine and what is not. So much is being sold as Labradorite/Andesine that is nowhere near such stones. That is why I am putting this together with sample pictures to show what is what.

Let's start with the pictures of supposedly REAL Red & Green Labradorites/Andesines:

Those two images are what supposedly REAL Red & Green Labradorite look like. The Green image does show a little color shift to red, this may or may not be the case in every stone. Labradorite is a member of the Feldspar Family. It is however different from the Labradorite most are familiar with, which is the grey to black stone that shows off yellow, green, and blue flashes and is a close relative to Spectrolite. There is also a Yellow Labradorite as well.

Now we get to the stones that sooo many sellers are selling as Labradorite/Andesine, when in reality they are a different type called Sunstone. Sunstone is again part of the Feldspar Family of rocks/gems and are a TRUE Labradorite Feldspar!!! Sunstone comes in a few colors, from a clear yellow, to a reddish, or pinkish,  or even peachish color to it, as well as the very rare red, green, and the rarest blue (teal) color. These different colors are actually brought on by little copper crystals that form inside the Sunstone as it grows. The light reflects off of these to make them have the appearance of color. Many Sellers have been selling these as Andesine, Labradorite, Honey Labradorite, etc. and just is  NOT correct. The only material being naturally produced currently, with NO treatments to enhance color or anything else, is Oregon Sunstone Labradorite. Below are a few images taken of the different forms and colors of Sunstone:

I am sure many of you have seen these gemstones or similar images for sale as the TV gem shows as Ande/Lab!? I know I have. I can not stress enough though, The above images show stones that are NOT TV show Ande-Lab!!!  They are Oregon Sunstone, which comes from the same mines as the Red Labradorite and Green Labradorite do. Some or all could actually be Andesine, but chemical testing by a laboratory would be needed to distinguish which is Andesine and which is not. There is not way to tell otherwise.

Now, here is another sample of a Sunstone, this one is Tibetan Sunstone and doesn't have schiller present, these are not true Sunstone either, nor Ande-Lab! They are a Feldspar, but of which clasee, not sure as of yet:

Last but not least, is this Oregon Sunstone Labradorite or just plain Andesine? Came from the Oregon mines, but it shows schiller like sunstone but it has red/orange and then a color shift to green like Green Labradorite? Could it be a mix? Your guess is as good as mine on this one folks:

The stones you saw in the beginning of this Guide that were SUPPOSEDLY real Ande-Lab, are the furtherest thing from the truth!!!  ALL, so far I do mean ALL, of the Lab-Ande out there on the market coming from the Congo, China, Tibet, Mongolia, etc. Are all fakes!!! Read this again.. THEY ARE ALL FAKES!!!! What is happening is that the Chinese and other overseas cooking houses are cooking the cheaper Oligoclase Feldspar (Indian Sunstone), Mexican Feldspar, and/or Orthoclase Feldspar from Africa with copper to get these colors..,. In layman's terms, they are performing a method of diffusion treatment which will put the red and/or green colors onto just the outer layer of the material turning it red and green and combos there for.

At this time of this edit the ONLY Labradorite/Sunstone/Andesine that exists completely untreated is that which comes from Oregon from a handful of mines. That material comes in yellow, peach, pink, red, orangish, green, blue/teal, and with and without schiller. The Oregon material, at this time, is the ONLY material that is naturally colored and completely untreated! The Oregon material is also the only source that gets its colors from copper, in fact the little copper platelets inside the gemstones is what does it... when these are big enough to be seen without high magnification it is referred to as schiller!!!

The other Feldspar gemstones out there get their schiller from other inclusions like Hematite and Pyrite, NO copper! Their colors (unless transparent clear or yellow) comes from the artificial copper introduced during the diffusion cooking process.

This material the TV shows are/were selling, as well as the majority of websites, and even Ebay Sellers are selling, what has become to be known as, Scamdesine or Frankenstone! I would avoid this junk material at all costs!

If you want true Labradorite, then your only choice is Oregon Sunstone! But please do not fall into the trap many overseas sellers have now started doing... selling the same Scamdecine stone but listing origin as Oregon.

But, I hope you have learned something and maybe you will find your buying experience a little more pleasurable and knowledgeable when you are searching for Red & Green Labradorite to bid on and possibly purchase. Maybe this Guide can also help out those innocent Sellers who are just going by what some TV shows say to sell things or other more sly Sellers put in their Auctions to sell things; so now the innocent Sellers can have a guide to go by. Feel free to drop me a line with any questions or suggestions you may have.
