This is the Gay Pride Flag. It was created in 1978 by Gilbert Baker. It is the International Flag of the Gay Community. The Colors of the Rainbow have the following significance: RED Life ORANGE Healing Yellow Sun Green Nature Blue Harmony Purple Spirit.
Double Venus is a symbol of Lesbian Pride and Unity.
Double Mars is a symbol of Gay Male Pride and Unity.
Labrys is a symbol of Lesbian and Feminist strength as well as self sufficiency.
In Nazi Germany, Gay Men were sent to prison camps under Paragraph 175 of German Law. They were forced to wear a Pink Triangle. It is estimated that at least 15,000 Gay Men were put to death in the concentration camps.
The Black triangle also comes from Nazi Germany and was given to Lesbian Women and Prostitutes to wear. Today both the Pink and Black Triangles symbolize resistance to Bigotry.
The Lambda is thought to have several meanings: Liberation, Unity, Energy, and Synergy.
Freedom or Unity Rings are a symbol against oppression.
