This is one of the easiest GPS's units I have tried. (I also have a Delorme handheld) The Garmin simply turns on, asks you "Where do you want to go" and you touch the screen. One great feature is the points of interest (POI), over 6 million of them - most of which I will never use, but they store phone numbers, addresses, etc. Say you want to find the nearest BBQ restaurant, select from the Favorites menu (there are numerous sub categories) your choice of food, I hit BBQ and up comes as many as you want to see, select one and the phone number/address pops up in case you want to call them. A big button on the touch screen says GO. Select it and you are instantly given directions on how to get there - and the time you will arrive. Now, that informations is stored for the 6 million POI's so you can literally go anywhere. The little box will mark the safest routes, the quickest routes and much more.
It is fun and easy. You can spend a lot more for a GPS and get probably the same thing. For my money, which is short, this unit is fine but most of all, easy. I don't have time to study the books learning about every technical detail and do not want to. This machine, for under $200 at the time of this writing is more than enough. I let my 77 year old mother, who is not tech savvy, look at it and she operated it. That is enough.

I hope this helps someone.
