Make your own Repellents. Below you will find 4 homemade recipes you can make yourself for Bug Repellent in the Garden, Rodent Repellent, Slug Spray and Snail Bait:
1. BUG REPELLENTS IN THE GARDEN: Onion's and Garlic can be planted in between other vegetables in your garden to help keep the bugs away and are a great way to save space in a small garden too.
2. RODENT REPELLENT: I've found that when it comes to rodents and other four legged pests the moth balls are the best solution to the problem. They are harmless to the animals, but keep them out of your plants. Just don't place them too close to your plants. I recommend placing them about ever 4 to 6 inches away from your plants.
3. SLUG SPRAY: Mix 1 Cup of Boiling Water and 1 Cup of Iodized Salt together in a bowl. Put into a hand held sprayer and spray the slugs or any areas where slugs are active, this will get rid of them very quickly.
4. SNAIL BAIT: One can of beer and a small saucer are all you need to solve your snail problems. Put the beer in the saucer, and place the saucer on the ground where you are having problem with snails. Wait a couple of days and the snails will find it and drowned themselves in it. Replace as needed.
5. MAKE YOUR OWN PLANT MARKERS: Don't throw away your damaged mini blinds. Save them and cut them into plant markers. Use a magic marker to write the name of the plant on it. You can also use them to mark the bulbs that have to be dug up in the fall.
