When figuring out the best way to organize your cluttered garage, the first thing that you must do is decide exactly what you want to do with the space. Are you looking to use your garage to work on cars primarily? Are you intending to continue parking your car(s) in the garage but need to free up additional space? What kind of items do you need to store or manage more efficiently, is it primarily small durable goods that there isn’t household space for, or is it sporting goods like bicycles and golf clubs? Once you have answered these questions you will be more knowledgable and more ready to purchase the garage storage equipment that is suited to your individual needs.

There are several main types of garage storage equipment - garage storage cabinets, garage storage racks and tool storage chests, boxes and cabinets. Each type is specifically tailored to meet different household storage needs.

Garage Storage Cabinets

Garage Storage Cabinets are primarily general use cabinets, organizers and cabinet sets. They are the best solution for someone who may be using their garage storage equipment for multiple uses, whether it is intended for organizing a work area, adding some storage space or creating a laundry area.

Base Cabinets, Hutches, Tall Storage

  • Base Cabinets, hutches and Tall storage cabinets are the perfect way to develop your own garage storage system. Base Cabinets are the best starting point for designing your garage configuration. Base Cabinets are often 2 or 3 drawer units that have a large cabinet area which may or may not have 2 doors and which may or may not have shelves inside. If these are important features that you are looking for in your cabinet purchase, it is essential to be thorough and make sure that the cabinet that you are purchasing has your desired features. Once you have a an idea of the base cabinet or base cabinets that you will be purchasing, the nest step will be to decide the other pieces that you will need. Luckily, most of our cabinets have complimentary and matching items which will create a matched and integrated set.
  • Hutches are the next logical item to think about in your garage setup. Our hutches generally come in two varieties, those that are primarily pegboards and those that are primarily shelves. Both are intended for different uses. The pegboards are intended for those that will be using the hutch in a workspace capacity. Pegboards are great places to hang tools, small equipment boxes, and excess cords or wires. Pegboards also leave these items in plain view, and with very quick access. Shelves are intended as storage, and are great for someone who is looking to either store small items, or to leave laundry items like detergent in bleach in plain view, and high enough off the ground to avoid children.
  • Tall Storage Cabinets are exactly what you would think that they are. They are tall, usually about as wide as a base cabinet, and are effective means of storing long, lean items, or many items using shelving. These are ideal for situations when you don’t have a lot of floor space but need to store a lot of items. One thing to be careful about is that these are relatively tall units, and you may want to check clearances in your garage before you finalize your purchase.

Garage Storage Racks

Garage Storage Racks may be meant to store sporting goods, racks that are specifically for bikes, racks for hoses, and racks meant to hold storage bins. With garage storage racks, there are several important things that you want to keep in mind, first, what are you intending to use the rack for? Second, where do you want the rack?

Different Types of Racks

Sporting Goods Racks are used for storing various types of sports equipment. Some of our racks are made for golf equipment, some for hockey, some for skis, and we even carry hooks that are intended for skateboards and snowboards. These racks are great for keeping your equipment organized. Many of the racks include features like shoe holders for the golf bag racks, pole holders for the ski racks and skate holders for the hockey rack, that intended to keep all the equipment together and easy to access. Also, the racks make your garage and home a safer place by taking items like skateboards off the floor where they can create a large hazard

Bike Racks are the most popular type of storage racks, bicycle are large and cumbersome, and can easily damage cars if not properly secured. We carry bike racks that are designed to accomadate single bikes or multiple bikes. Our racks are also available in a wide variety of setups to make sure that you make the most efficient use of space and put them in the safest place

Lawn and Garden Racks are meant for storing items like rakes, hoes and even hedge trimmers. These Racks are designed to make your lawn and garden tools easily accessible, but at the same time keep them secure and out of the way. Our lawn and garden racks can hold just a few items required for normal lawn care or we also carry some that are more suited for the avid gardener.

Storage Bin Racks hold storage bins up off the floor and out of the way to save on floor spacing. These racks are best intended for use with bins, but can also be used in areas of the home like the pantry where floor space is at a premium. With storage bin racks, you may want to place close attention to their maximum load capacity, as well as place close attention to how they are mounted, because excessive weight or load can cause damage to the rack, your home and to items contained in the bins

Hose Reels are used to easily store hose. We offer two types of hose reels, simple brackets that hold a coil of hose, and larger housing units which not only hold the hose but conceal it in an aesthetically pleasing way. Much like the storage bin racks, you’ll want to pay attention to the maximum load of the hose reel, especially if you have a large and spacious yard

Different Mounting Options for Garage Racks

Garage Storage Racks are made to mount on several different surfaces. There are garage storage racks that mount on the wall, racks that mount on the ceiling, racks that are free standing and racks that are designed to lean against a wall. All of these racks have specific advantages and disadvantages, and you should make sure to carefully pick the one that suits you best

Wall Mounted Racks mount to walls in your home. As with any load bearing, wall mounted device, you’ll probably want to secure your wall mounted rack to a stud, or studs as the application may warrant. Wall mounted devices have the advantage of not taking up floor space, while still leaving items readily accessible, but you’ll have to make sure that you’re within the maximum load of the rack.

Ceiling or Overhead mounted racks are either stationary or operate on a pulley system and are best suited for applications where floor and wall space is really at a premium. A few of the things to pay close attention to with these types of racks are of the maximum load of the racks, as well as how the rack is to be mounted to the ceiling. It is extremely important to make sure that the mounting points for the rack have at least the same ability to hold weight as the rack itself

Freestanding and Leaning Racks are meant to sit or lean against a wall in your garage. The advantages of these racks is that they often have much higher load capacities and can often accommodate a lot more items, like multiple bikes. The main disadvantage of these racks is of course the floor space that they take up. These racks often take up not only their space, but the space of the items that they secure, especially with bikes. So you’ll want to make sure before you purchase that these racks will accommodate your setup.

Tool Storage

Tool Boxes are very portable boxes that usually have one removable shelf, and are mostly metal, plastic or some combination of the two. Our tool boxes have the advantage of mobility, and a number of them also come with locking mechanisms. One thing that you’ll want to be mindful of here is the limited storage space available.

Tool Cabinets are similar to the base cabinets designed for garage cabinets, but are specifically intended for use with tools. There are varieties of tool cabinets that are stationary and there are also cabinets with castors, which allow them to be rolled around to make it easiest for you to work. These cabinets will often have 2 or 3 large drawers, but some of them come equipped with many. Also, these tool cabinets can serve as the base component to a larger tool storage set, as we have many complimentary and matching pieces.

Tool Chests are chests of drawers which are usually designed to sit on a table top or to be mounted on a tool cabinet to create a large and versatile tool storage set. These chests often have narrow drawers which suit them very well to organizing ratchet or driver sets, but they often, though not always, do not have a larger drawer to accommodate power tools or other large tools.

Workbenches provide a work surface to perform handy work. These are often durable and designed to take the abuse that come with performing heavy work upon them. We carry work surfaces, which would need stands or base cabinets to be used properly, as well as stand alone workbenches, which can be used by themselves. With workbenches, the one thing that you want to pay attention to is the depth of the bench. This will tell you how far the bench sticks out from the wall, ensuring that you purchase one that will allow you to fit it into your garage, as well as leave enough space to fit a car in or move around.
