Welcome to my guide/tutorial on the stamping/embossing technique called Emerging Colors, very easy and neat technique.

First we start with what you will need to complete the project :

  • Embossing Heat tool
  • Clear embossing powder
  • Brayer
  • 4 or 5 different color dye-ink pads(one of these must be black or dark like brown)
  • Solid Stamp images(no line art stamps-it won't work)
  • Versa Mark
  • Paper towel
  • Sponge daubers(optional, paper towel rolled up works or kitchen new sponge
  • 5 1/2 x 3 piece of semi-Glossy white card stock

First you get your 5 1/2 x 3 semi-glossy piece of white card stock, you can cut it to any size you want, but for this project I cut it to 5 1/2 x 3.

Take you 5 1/2 x 3 white piece of paper and sponge on a mix of your inks on the white card stock, but you may want to leave some white space to have another color in the mix. In my project I am using wild wasabi, purely pomegranate, and pumpkin pie orange.  You want to mix up the colors in each area of your white card stock and like I mentioned above, you may leave some white showing through.

Next you take your versa mark and your solid stamp imagine(mine is a leaves set by Stampin Up!) I take the verse mark and I stamp the images all around, I have not tried it with overlapping images so I will stick to no overlapping images, you can try it though, it may work, I put as many as I can on the card stock without overlapping and leave some space between each image of different style and size leaves.

Then you sprinkle clear embossing powder all over your paper, be careful not to smear the versa mark when you are doing this since it is hard to see at this point, then you take your heat tool and heat the embossing powder evenly until all your images are smooth clear embossed images.(don't over heat and don't under heat)

Let it cool for a tiny bit, doesn't take long. Now you are ready for your brayer and your black or brown ink(any dark color, navy blue is good). Get your brayer nice and covered in your ink and brayer over your embossed card stock, make sure it is nice in covered(the point of this is too cover all the colors that are not embossed with your image.

Now take your paper towel and wipe off the ink on the embossed images, you may have to wipe pretty good and rub to get the ink off your embossed images, if you do it right after you are done brayering then it should come off better and easier.

Now you are ready to put your cover on your card, you can layer it with another piece of card stock such as white to pick up the little bit of white showing through, this would make a nice Thanksgiving day card and wow your recipients all at the same time!

I hope you have enjoyed my guide/tutorial on Emerging Colors! Vote if you did please!
