Lighting Images: It all started 8 years ago when my husband and I built our home and were given an allowence for light fixtures of $2000.00. Needless to say we spent $4000.00. We a year later opened up our own residential lighting store with Chandeliers, Pendants,Outdoor fixtures,Table lamps and ambiance lighting. We learned alot about the different styles of fixtures and the ins and outs of the finishes. When we started the business the Polished Brass finish was out and the Brushed Nickel was in. (We sold alot of Brushed Nickel ). In our Ebay store we try to be accurate about the fixtures as much as possible. We give the Height (or body), Width, Type of bulbs and Maximum wattage the fixture can use and a picture with an explanation of the painted fixtures. We havn't had any returns on our fixtures because we explain it in detail. However, I think all pictures should be as accurate on color as possible. If its Brass for instance, is it Polished Brass or Antique Brass. We use color names like Parchment per the manufacturer but it is a cream color. I've also made a note that when building a new home or even remodeling is to have the contractor wire for 2 lights around a patio door so you don't have a dark spot on one side of your deck. I feel this is a great example of extra light in an area where most people think mostly about the inside lighting, and then its to late to add after the siding has been put on with the added expense. We had the opportunity to see it first hand. One more tip; When purchasing a light fixture online it may be helpful to actually go to a local lighting store and pick something out similar or exact to the one you want and then you should know what to expect when it arrives to you. It also helps out with what colors or paint finishes are in at the time. Last tip; sometimes we don't know how big or small this fixture will look when we get it up. To get an idea take cardboard and cut it out in the dimensions of the fixture and hang it on the wall or from the ceiling, then you will know more precisely what to expect when it comes. I hope I've given some good tips in buying your next fixture online. Thank You for letting me share this information with you.
