First off I would like to give a big hats off to Ebay for finally revising the feedback policy. For too long sellers were allowed to be vindictive regarding feedback. I have noticed an increase in honesty among buyers and a sudden increase in immediate feedback from sellers.Novices are one thing...but sellers that have more than 50 + feedback should know better. I cannot tell you how many sellers make up poor excuses for innaccuracies...my favorite is the SAD story of how they (or someone close) lost their job..they are raising 400 grandchildren and need EBAY to supplement their living...WELL, IF IT IS THAT CRUCIAL, DO THE RIGHT THING !!!!!! Here are my top 5 elements that make a good seller...

1) Describes items accurately. Does not use loose terms like RARE, EXCELLENT OR AS IS.

2) Spends more time on item description than terms, threats and long whiney stories of past bad experiences.

3) Takes multiple pics and describes all damage instead of asking buyer to view pic for condition.

4) Leaves immediate feedback for fast payers.

5) Communicates shipping details and answers emails promptly.

Here are my top 5 pet peeves...

1) Vague inaccurate short descriptions IE ...item view pic all sales final as is ( What are you hiding?...and dont tell us you list sooo many items you dont have time)

2) Adds 100 pics of unrelated items, goes on for hours describing their shipping terms, handling cost expected time frame for payment, threats for non paying bidders and how they expect immediate payment but only ship 1 day out of 6 mos because they are too busy or gas is expensive or they are leaving on a round the world cruise before the auction is over.

3) Never respond to emails, say they sent multiple emails but guess you never received them, delays shipping and wonders why they get negative or neuteral feedback.

4) Leave feedback ONLY AFTER they receive it and even have the gall to mention that in their auctions.

5) Over charges on shipping starts bidding at the BUY it now price uses the words RARE, ONE OF A KIND, NEVER SEEN ONE LIKE THIS or ANTIQUE (ANTIQUE can only describe something that is 100 years or older)

Sellers need to realize that we the buyer are at a disadvantage. They have the item in hand...we can only rely on good pictures and accurate info. If a seller doesnt have the time to do what is right..then go get a real job in the real world where employers would not put up with those types of shortcomings. EBAY can be a wonderful place...affording many with an opportunity that didnt exsist 10 years ago. Lets all do the right thing so EBAY will be around for the next 10 years......and beyond.
