Gold...Everyone loves it! Well, most people love it! Guys and gals alike. It's beautiful to the eye. It feels good. And, best of all, it's a good investment. At least in todays market. But, how does one buy gold. There are a few things to look for. The first thing I look for is a marking. Gold jewelry, yellow or white, should have a marking stamped on the inside. Sometimes they are in the smallest spaces. The gold piece should be stamped 18K, 14K, or 10K. The K stands for karat. This mark describes the percentage of pure gold that particular item contains. The higher the karat number, the higher the percentage of gold in your piece. But, bear in mind, the higher the number, the softer the piece. In other words, 18K gold will break and bend easier then 10K gold. In my store, I recommend 10K to gentlemen who are purchasing a wedding band which they plan to wear all the time. It's a little harder gold and will take a little more of a beating without bending. Most guys perfer 10K gold rope chains for the same reason. If the customer is purchasing their piece of jewelry to wear occasionally, most prefer 14K to 18K because it has more gold content. But, because it does have more gold content, 14K and 18K gold is a little more expensive the 10K. Thats it about gold for now. Please check back. I will be posting more guides regarding GOLD - WHAT ABOUT IT!
