It sounds easy...find some extra stuff in your garage or closet; list them on eBay. Make Money! Sadly, it takes a bit more effort than that. Here are a few tips to get you started:
- take more pictures than you think you need. Eliminate those that are fuzzy, dark, or have extra objects in the way. Crop photos to highlight your offering.
- write succinct descriptions: height, weight, color, limited editions, autographed, etc.
- Research completed sales of similar products to get a feel for "real" pricing
- Sign up for a PayPal account
- Take advantage of eBay special offers: free gallery pictures, etc,
- Find a niche market in which you have knowledge, experience, and a good source of fresh materials to list
- Respond to customer questions within 24 hours
- sign up for a usps account to print labels easily from home/office
- if you ship international, learn what customs forms are required; order forms (for free) from the post office and have them pre-filled out before you enter the post office.
- read eBay boards in your niche to get some help for other sellers.
- never over-state the condition of your item
- specify return policy, shipping time, and other relevant data on each listing.
