One of the most difficult things about getting started selling on eBay is what products to sell and in what formats. The purpose of this article is to acquaint the new eBay seller with some of the ways to get your feet wet in the exciting world of online selling.
CREDIBILITY COUNTS
It is sometimes hard to get started because low feedback by a seller can cause buyers to be concerned. After all, you have no eBay track record because your feedback is so low. This causes a chicken and egg problem. How do I make sales without feedback and how do I get feedback without sales?
The secret is to start small and keep adding to your feedback with both purchases and sales. That’s right, you gain feedback by making purchases as well as sales. And this should count because every successful transaction you make within the eBay system adds to your understanding about how everything works.
Eventually, when your feedback is in the hundreds, buyers will not care that your first 20 to 50 feedbacks were from sellers rather than buyers. All that will count at that point is the number of feedbacks and what your percentage of successful transactions you have, i.e. your feedback score.
GETTING YOUR FEET WET
One thing you can do to learn the eBay system is to set up a Paypal account and start looking for small transactions where you can learn the selling and purchasing process. Lets say, for instance, that you want to sell some jewelry online. Do a search for ROYALTY FREE JEWELRY and you will find people listing images of jewelry you can purchase to use in your listings.
There are even some as low as $.01 with no shipping charge. Think about it, you get one successful eBay transaction, a picture to use in your listing, all for $.01! You can purchase enough images for your entire store and rack up 100 successful transactions all for $1.
There are also e-books you can purchase with free downloads (no shipping) on many topics. You get useful information with the e-book and higher feedback as a fringe benefit.
JUST DO IT
So as a new eBay member, you don’t have to wait until you have a $50 or $100 purchase to get started. Simply jump right in and learn how to successfully transact business without spending a lot of money.
