When choosing FULL SIZE  i.d. Bare Escentuals~bareMinerals. 

     When there are so many different sizes of i.d. Bare Escentuals~bareMinerals out there, how do you choose the right one for you? A full size, and EX-LARGE size or a sample size? Let's start with the basics and what full size jar contains (I will be writing a GUIDE on SAMPLES sizes later this week-so please stop back), how long they should last you and how much it will each one weigh. Keep in mind Bare Minerals or all mineral cosmetics for that matter, are sold by weight, not but volume, which means different colors will weigh different amounts--the bottom line?--you will get more mineral content & more uses, out of  a light or pastel color/shade then you will a darker shade or one with sparkles (mica flakes). Blues and greens are the heaviest in weight therefore you will get less mineral content and fewer uses/applications, whether it be an eye shadow or an eye liner, when purchasing one of these colors.

A general guide to FULL SIZE jars:

EYE LINERS weigh .01oz/ 6 months to 1 year of use, depending on how often you apply and how much you use and whether you apply a thin line or a thick line when lining your eyes.

EYE SHADOWS weigh .02oz/B.E. states 3 years worth of use. If you do not use the same color every day you can get 3 years worth of use out of one full size jar. Remember with all mineral cosmetics, LESS IS MORE, the most common mistake new users make, is using too much, to much shadow, liner, foundation and  too much Mineral Veil. Have patience it does take time to learn the proper application techniques. But the beautiful results you will achieve are well worth every minute!

 FOUNDATIONS: weigh .06oz for a regular size jar/4-9 months depending on how often you apply and how heavy you apply. Also remember if you use a Flawless Face brush you will be using less mineral foundation but you also will be getting a lighter coverage on your face, this brush gives you the lightest coverage of all B.E. brushes meant for foundation use. A Kabuki Brush will give  you  greater coverage and you will be using more minerals with this brush than with a Flawless face brush. The brush that can hold the most mineral content/foundation and give you the fullest coverage on your face is a synthetic foundation brush--these look much like the Maximum Concealer Brush only are larger in size and typically are made of a synthetic material.

FOUNDATION .35oz weigh for EX-LARGE size jar/1 year + of use, again depending on how often you use it and what type of brush you use to apply it.

MINERAL VEIL-.02oz small or travel size- .06oz for a regular size jar  & .25oz for an EX-LARGE size jar/2-4 months use out of a small/travel size jar/4-9 months use for regular size & 1 year + use out of an extra large jar. Again depending on how often you use it, if you reapply throughout the day and if you use  it as a foundation primer as well as the final top coat. If you have very oily skin Mineral Veil can be used on your face as a FIRST step- before foundation as an extra oil blotting barrier, then applied again and buffed on as the top or finishing coat. This step really should not be skipped, when buffing on this last step of Mineral Veil, this is where the flawless-airbrushed look comes from. When buffing Mineral Veil on with a Kabuki Brush or similar brush you are blending together the concealer, foundation and blush--softening all of thier edges and this is what gives you the flawless-no line-airbrushed look.

There are a few things to remember when purchasing FULL SIZE jars. Is it something you will be wearing everyday if a foundation? Will you wear the same color eye shadow/liner for one to three full years? Will you get tired of the color before then? Will you change your eye & foundation colors with the seasons? WIll you want a new color shadow or liner each time it comes out? Do you tan during the warmer months? If you answered YES to any of these questions and  you change your colors frequently then samples sizes may be a better buy for you and in the long run save you money! Please remember this is only a general guideline as there are many special edition jars and jars that are produced for kits/sets which can weigh a different amount than the above stated sizes and therefore last you a longer of shorter amount of time.
