Fun Halloween Treat to Make and Eat

Ghosts in the Graveyard

I wanted to share this recipe with everybody, because it is perfect for Halloween, fun to make, kids love it, it is easy to make and everybody can help.  The added bonus with this treat is that you can add whatever you want to the decoration to make it your own.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Package chocolate cream-filled cookies

  • 2 Packages of chocolate pudding mix

  • 3 1/2 Cups Milk

  • 1 x 12 ounce container Whipped Topping, thawed

  • 1 package rectangular shaped vanilla cookies (Pepperidge farm)

  • Black and Green decorating icing tubes

  • Candy Pumpkins/candy corns

  • Gummy Worms

  • Chocolate Sprinkles

  • 13x9x2 inch Baking dish

First crush the chocolate cream filled cookies, if you have never done this before, double bag the cookies and use a rolling pin to break them up.  Kids love to do this bit!  Once you have broken all the cookies up, set aside and start making the pudding.  Make the pudding as directed, using 3 1/2 cups milk, and let stand for 5 minutes.  Fold 3 cups of the whipped topping and 1/2 of the crushed cookies into the pudding mix.  Spoon into the baking dish, level the top of the pudding mix.

The remaining crushed cookies are then sprinkled on top.  Place the pudding in the refrigerator for an hour.

While the pudding is in the refrigerator you can decorate the cookies.  With the tubes of icing decorate the cookies with words such as "BOO" or "R.I.P"

Once the pudding mix has been in the Fridge for an hour, your Graveyard can be decorated.  Place the cookies in the pudding mix.  Use the remaining whipped topping to create swirls of "ghosts", you can do this with a spoon or if you have a piping bag you can use that.  Chocolate sprinkles or the icing tubes can be used for the eyes of the ghosts.  Finally scatter the candy pumpkins, candy corns and the worms around the graveyard.

The finished treat will look like this:

I originally made this treat years ago when I was I nanny, now I have my own kids and it has become a family tradition every year.  This treat is not only fun to make but it is great eye catcher if you are having a Halloween party, and even better, it is yummy to eat!!!
