Full Metal Panic! by Shoji Gatoh is action/comedy manga. A cute, socially adept high school girl has been mistakenly targeted by a group of terrorists. A gung-ho secret agent/body guard enters the picture and derails her social life.

The detailed descriptions of the terrorist group, their weaponry, and their tactics is worthy of Tom Clancy. The contrast with the normal high school life of a girl leads to all sorts of comedic possibilities.

The plots of these books are character-driven and well written. Interesting, engaging characters and fantastic plots and circumstances make this series a worth while read.
