The Fruit Basket Quilt is an applique quilt pattern by Ruby McKim/ McKim Studios. It was originally published newspapers across America such as the World Herald, Omaha, Nebraska in 1933. One pattern was printed each week, and the reader would carefully cut and save each piece until they had a complete quilt set. These patterns were highly valued, many of them surviving for collectors and quilt historians of today.
This is a very colorful quilt, with pieced baskets on the bottom of each square (set on diagonals) and appliqued fruit top.
There are 32 blocks in the entire series. When these are set together as shown the blocks will make a top about 66 x 83 inches. The borders can be altered to reach your desired size.
