In search of an original home decorating idea? A frame vintage magazine ad makes a wonderful conversation piece that will add (no pun intended) personality to any home or office.
"Vintage ads? Aren't they expensive?" Well, my good friends, if you purchase an original framed vintage ad from an antique mall, then you will find yourself spending anywhere from $25 up to $100 or more. So, yes, yes they can be expensive. However, you are a savvy eBay shopper and you know that YOU CAN DO IT YOURSELF FOR MUCH LESS! Here is how...
STEP 1: SEARCH EBAY FOR VINTAGE ADS
There are hundreds of great vintage ads on eBay and you can find many of them in the Vinta-Go-Gaga Store . Yes, that was a shameless self-promotion but then again, when you read "Step 1" you probably then thought "we can have lots of fun"...which means you were singing a New Kids on the Block song. And just like that little kid said in It's A Wonderful Life, "Teacher says that every time the New Kids sing, Vinta-Go-Gaga gets a shameless self-promotion."
STEP 2: FIND A CLASSIC WOODEN FRAME
Simply search your attic or garage sales to find a frame that's not brand new, but slightly worn. Classic worn frames really add character and personality to a framed vintage ad. Note: make sure you find a frame that is big enough so the ad will have 3 to 4 inches from the edge of the ad to the frame. In our humble, yet deadly accurate opinion, this nice open area around allows the ad to really stand out.
STEP 3: FRAME YOUR VINTAGE AD
Frame it. Mat it. Hang it. Done!
STEP 4: ENJOY YOUR NEW FRAMED VINTAGE AD!
Now, you savvy eBay shopper, you have created for very little money the exact same framed vintage ad that you could have purchased at the antique mall for much, much, much more. Just imagine what your friends are going to think when they discover that YOU created your gorgeous framed vintage ad! Oh, there will be much envy. You don't keep up with the Jones' because you, my friend, ARE the Jones'.
