As being in the business in repairing, detaling, and custom building acrylic drum singles and sets AA Drums have came acrossed alot of fraudulant scams as listed and described below are the most common others are well noticeble at the first glance:
Most of the ones that AA Drums have came acrossed have originated in Africa, UK, and Japan.
You will recieve a aparently a mass emailed message targeted at businesses like AA Drums, and other alike.. That's from what it appears to be..
The will offer to buy your product you have listed for sale on various classified ads, even Ebay! on the internet even newspapers!
They will usually give their first name sometimes a full first and second name from such and such country. They want too buy your product o item(s) and then do no state the specifics on what they want exactly if it custom made. Following they will offer to send you a cashiers check written for like $10.5 million (U.S. currentcy) or for way over what the product is priced at.. Then they will have a shipping agent of their own discretion pick it up.
Of course you want to know what bank, bank clerk, contact information of this individual and establishment too see if this is a legitimate offer or if it is a fraudulant scam attempt.
They usually use some screwy name using a YAHOO.COM, YAHOO.FR, YAHOO.UK, HOTMAIL.COM, OR MSN.COM, FAKE AOL ACCOUNT, or some major internet service provider email account. No direct phone number to contact them directly, just a bogus name and what they want..
Come on now $10.5 million dollars for a single drum, drum outfit? That right there sounds so stupid it is not even funny!! You then tell them you only ship with a very common shipping company like UPS or Fed Ex, DHL, ect. even though they prefere their own private shipping company (which have found one that reall exist for real). After you deny thier shipping company of their choice you then never hear from them or they come back and repeat the same B.S. What about the rest of the money? Well, they usually don't even get back with you if you suggest that...
Another fraudulant scam is trying to rope you into a product that they manufacture supposedly.. Sometimes it has nothing to do with drums or percussion items at all.. Like perfume and another one was hammers!! What? as all. This includes a large sineup bonus check or becomming partners.. Or they want to buy a share of your business or even try to own the whole thing!!!
This has happened in all foreign countries as listed above.. Even if the phone number seems to you to be real check it out, 9 times out of 10 it does not even exist!! They also ask for your following payment / deposit information:
*Bank account numbers *Bank Transfer numbers for direct deposit, Paypal, Personal/Business bank account name and Escrow accounts. I had this happen ona nice authentic original 3-band Swirl Pattern D Quadra-Plus outft and a very nice custom 8"x14" Pattern F Vistalite like in amber/clear/red Power snare that was all decked out with brass hardware!!
The cashiers checks was fake!! Lost the drums, owed UPS alot of money, and worst thing lost trust in foreign customers from those countries...
Just be carefull... There are honest people in the world with no doubt, it's sad that we cannot even accept cashiers checks without checking them first... Be smart and be safe check them out ok, it will save you alot of money, save you from loosing your percussion items that others want and will enjoy for years to come, and most of all put a damper on these individuals... They don't care about you just wanting to make a profit off of nothing that even is ligitimate!!!
Don't become a victim of these rubish acts.
Record all ISP numbers, email messages, PHONE NUMBERS OF COURSE even ask for photo of the individual.. Anything to help..
