I have literally tried every kind of shaving cream and razor combination on the market, and was resigned to a life of difficulty, despite decades of genuine yet futile efforts to turn the tide.  But all that has recently changed thanks to tighter airport security.

Lost And Found

On a recent trip, I lost a bottle of Aveeno shaving cream due to the new security guidelines that prohibit liquids and gels in carry-on luggage.  Yes, it serves me right for packing the luggage the night before, and still trying to shave in the morning.  Doh! (Oh, and that reminds me: don't forget to purchase TSA Approved Locks for your bags before you go.  We didn't have those, either!)  Anyway, the bottom line is that I found myself without shaving cream. 

What was I to do?  The only thing we had that seemed like it might work was my son's diaper ointment.  So, I cracked open the tube of Balmex Protective Clear Ointment, applied it to my face, and hit it with the razor.  What resulted was the smoothest shave I've ever had!  No, kidding!  I wish I had known about this stuff in high school.

It would never have occurred to me to use my son's diaper cream on my face, had I not been completely desperate.  But, it makes sense that it would work.  It's 50% petroleum based, but the remaining ingredients make it go on smooth and clear, take the stickiness out of it, and make it easy to apply and remove.  Plus, it has hypo-allergenic qualities and is infused with vitamin E.  It is made for cuts, scrapes, burns, irritation, ... I think it's better formulated than shaving cream!  The hair sort of sticks to the razor, ... but I'm more concerned about my face than I am about the razor.  And the face kicks butt! 

Reputation On The Line

The possibility of friends, family and/or co-workers ever discovering my little shaving secret is certainly reason enough for me to keep it to myself.  I mean, what self-respecting man shaves with diaper cream?  But, I tell you, it worked so well for me, and I have come so far and suffered for so long,  that I had to share the information on the off chance that it would help another living human.  We're all in this together, after all.
