Football Cards Not BASEBALL

First let me start off by saying why football cards rather then say Baseball, etc.

Baseball cards have been crushed by one scandle or another for over 20 years now. First significant one was the gambling issues of Charlie Hussle if you don't know who he is let me fill you in. Charlie Hussle better know as Pete Rose one of the greatest hitters of all time. The near clinching number of hits to get into Cooperstown ( Major League Baseball Hall of Fame) is 3000. Pete had well over 4000 base hits and will never see the Hall of Fame unless he buys a ticket. So I guess gambling on sports when you are a player and a manager of a professional team is a no-no.

Cocaine there is a lists of admitted users and abusers in the sport of baseball. Darryl Strawberry, Steve Howe, and I could list a hundred or so more, but these were the most public.

Oh yeah who can forget about 70 and 73 Home Runs in Back to Back seasons breaking a Home Run record that stood for decades. Who held the record before that? How many was it? Slipped some of your minds didn't it. Roger Marris 61 Home Run season was the record. 70*? 73*? Well at least the 70 I would think Mark McGwire admitted to the use of steroids. Bonds now thats the story of baseball a few years ago I had 3 of his rookie cards they were worth nearly $200 combined now the same 3 would be worth a measly $41 almost a 80% loss. The only player from the 80s who seemed to survive the steroids controversy was The Rocket Roger Clemens, but look at him now.

So I was thinking well thats hurt the current players but thats all. Wrong even the greats have slumped Mantle, Ryan, late 50s, 60s, 70s all took some hits. Some more then others but it deffinately hurt the industry.

Now I think its time for people to make a discision and decide what to do Kill the sport or Save it. How many people watch every game there team plays throughout a season. 162 thats alot of games. me myself I only watch the playoffs and world series every other year or so. Been to 6 games in the last 5 years 5 of them were minor league games.

How does this affect the football card industry it doesn't. But I watch 20+ football games a year probally more. I don't miss the playoffs every. And steroids could not lead a player to shatter a 40year old record.
