One day you wake up and find yourself with heels that are rough, dry and scaly and you have not even been on hikes or bare foot on coral reefs. This situations gets worse after you have taken a shower or bath and when your feet dries, it is noticeably dry. Then when you try to put cremes and lotions on every day, it does not help; the situation is chronic and then panic ! We all pay so much attention to the other end of our spectrum, our faces and nurture it with spa treatments and facial massages and for some, our feet do not get as much attention, or massages. For whatever reason your feet have become dry and scaly and if your favourite lotions and moisturizers have not helped, try the following products or ingredients, which helped cleared my heels in about 3 to 4 weeks with constant application.
One of the ingredients which have helped is a lotion with Grapseed Extract. This ingredient for some reason, not only helps reduces the cholesterol in your body, but actually helps heel the skin, especially my scaly and dry heels. It helps to smooth and soften rough dry skin and worked best when applied overnight. It works in conjunction with aloe vera which is a natural healer for deep conditioning. Another key ingredient that helps is peppermint. Not only it smells great but it offers a soothing experience when applied as part of a lotion form or oil. If you would like to give yourself a foot 'facial', try microwaving a wet wash cloth sprinkled with a few drops of peppermint oil to sooth sching feet, heels and ankles; especially wonderful after your excercise at the gym, sports that requires constant movement of your feet/ankles such as tennis or raquetball. The heat will open pores enabling your lotions to penetrate more deeply. For the daring, other ingredients that and help spice up your foot soak experience would be fresh mint, lemongrass and honey, to help warm cleanse and moisturize your feet.
After only 3 weeks, my feet and heels are back to normal again (sigh of relief). Now, I pay attention to my feet and heels and give periodic massages and spa treatment as much as I do with my face or body. And to get that pro pedicure look don't forget to cur your nails' corners at a 45 degree angle to create rounded squares, and this also helps prevent ingrowns. Products that have grape seed extracts can be found in your local drug stores, and we also offer peppermint infused lotion sets with pedicure instruments as a complete package. The next time you get a massage, don't forget to ask your masseuse to pay extra attention to your feet as well. Your feet will love it.
