Two weeks before christmas iI made a bid on EBAY on a purchase of an ATV. I sent the seller a message asking about shipping. As soon as I did that the seller e-mailed me back mentioning that he had just dropped his buy it now price and asked if I was interested. His Buy IT Now price was to good to be true. I waited for a ew hours and then contacted him saying that I wanted to make the purchase. He immediately went into EBay and removed the item. We started to work out shipping. I asked where I could pick up the machine and he said, "don't worry" shipping is included. He sent me a bogus add from one of the shipping companies that EBay advertises. The only thing that I had to do is send the money to an independent insurance agent who is bonded to protect both the buyer and seller. The bonding agent will hold the cash until the ATV arrives and that I had 5 days right of refusal. I started lookinf into Mapquest and looking at addresses of where I was to sent the money. I also went into the internet to look in "people find" to see who and where this persons insurance agency was located only to find out that it was all bogus. The seller also wanted me to send the money by Western Union. When using Western Union, when you send money less that $3,000.00 you do not have to show any I.D. When sending more than $3,000.00 both sender and receiver has to show positive idea. Dead giveway, that is why the price was so cheap. I contacted EBay for followup. The only thing that is bad is you never know if these people are caught or what actually happen to them. I learned a valuable lesson and am over protective now. Follow EBay's advice and make sure you are protected.
