When shopping for replacement piece(s) to your flatware/silverware, there are a few things you should look for before making a purchase:
- Manufacturer
- Pattern Name
- Country of Origin
-
18/8 and 18/10 Stainless Steel
Usually, the above information could be located on the back of your spoon/fork, with exception of the pattern name. For example, there may be a stamp that states "Oneida, 18/10 USA" This would indicate that your piece was manufactured by Oneida, the percentages of chromium in alloy and nickel is 18/10, and it was made in USA. Sometimes, the country of origin is on the back of the bowl of the spoon/fork.
The Country of Origin is very important in locating an identical replacement piece as there is a slight difference in size and weight depending on the country of origin. For example, Oneida Islet was manufactured in USA, Indonesia, Korea, etc. and, thus, there is a slight differences in the molds. That is, you may not be able to tell the difference by looking at the piece on your screen but when you receive it, you will notice a slight difference if the country of origin is not the same. Therefore, is very important that you ask the seller for the country of origin on the piece(s) listed when you want an exact match. This also applies to other manufacturers (Gorham, Dansk, etc.) as well.
