USPS Flat Rate Priority Mail (the eBay 'Standard Flat Rate Shipping' is not necessarily Priority mail; always ask the seller exactly what kind of mail their 'Flat Rate' shipping entails.)
The US Postal Service Flat Rate Box comes in several sizes.
- FRB1's (perfect-for-D&D-manuals-and-larger-boxed-sets, and heavy books; the photo shows the capacity; that's 11 pounds-worth of books!!) size is a robust 12x4x14,
- costs a flat $10.35 to anywhere in the US, including AK, HI, Guam. APOs in Korea, Germany, Iraq, etc., are $8.80; and if you print your postage and shipping label at home using Click 'n Ship, all prices are discounted $0.50
- has unlimited weight within the restrictions of package integrity!
The boxes are free and the post office will even deliver large orders to your house or business, at no charge.
They're super-easy to pack, label and mail, because of the box construction, flat fee, and the fact that they're Priority Mail 3-5 days delivery and so take the Priority Mail labels.
There's really no better substitute, especially with the low shipping price.
CAVEAT: If your shipment is under 3.5 lbs, you're better off paying for standard Priority Mail, which is $4.95 (4.85) to everywhere in America, including overseas US holdings (same as the Flat Rate box). The $4.95 deal is pretty sweet if you're only mailing magazines or a few modules, which will easily fit in the USPS Flat Rate Priority Mail Envelope (comes in a couple styles: a papery, true-envelope, still very strong, and a durable, hard, cardboard envelope, good when wanting to protect magazines, etc. Again, no weight restrictions; it just can't be so heavy or pointy it destroys the envelope integrity). You can also purchase any size of box, or use your own, and so long as the weight is under 3.5 lbs, the shipping cost is still $4.80. Like the boxes, USPS will delivery envelopes and labels to you free of charge! Additionally, you can pre-purchase Priority Mail stamp-stickers out of vending machines when the PO is closed, or print entire labels with shipping on your computer thru PayPal!
Tip for Sellers: Don't be too greedy with handling fees. Most Sellers charge a small handling fee to cover the cost of listing on eBay. Be wary of charging $5 for shipping when it only cost $1.25 to mail the item Media Mail or First Class--the Buyer sees this when their item arrives, and it's not cool...

THAT'S 11 POUNDS-WORTH OF BOOKS!!
