Fitness Baseball
Everybody loves to hit a baseball, but nobody likes to run after it. Make this a competition between you and a few friends (2 or 3 works best). Throw some money into a hat and get ready for one of the toughest workouts you’ve ever been through.
The only equipment you need is a ball, a bat, a stopwatch and a notepad.
The Workout:
Find an empty baseball field and have all the participants stand near home plate. The object of the game is to have the highest total time at the end of 5 rounds.
The game is simple, one player bats once for each other participant and the participant must retrieve the ball as fast as possible by sprinting after the ball is hit and then throwing it back to home plate. The only catch is that the ball must cross home plate, this cause quite a challenge, as the players get tired. Another participant will time the runner and when the runner returns to home plate he must do one Pushup, situp, and squat for every 10 second interval it took them to retrieve the ball i.e. 30 seconds = 3 of each exercise. If the timer passes a 10 second interval you always round up i.e. 30.45 seconds = 4 of each exercise.
Record the time it took for the player to retrieve the ball in the batters column and bat again for the next player. Continue this format until all players have retieved the ball for each batter once. That counts as one round. Continue for as many rounds as you can handle. The winner is the person who cause the most damage to the other players i.e. causes the other players to run the furthest/longest.
Scorecard Example
Ben, Kyle, and Mark are playing. Ben bats first, Kyle second, Mark third. Kyle and Mark each take 30 seconds to retrieve the ball Ben hit. Ben and Mark take 33 seconds to retrieve the ball Kyle hit, and Ben and Kyle take 40 seconds to retrieve the ball Mark hit.
Scorecard
Name Round 1 Times Round 2 Times Round 3 Times
Ben 60 seconds
Kyle 66 seconds
Mark 80 seconds
After round 1 Mark is in 1st place, Kyle is in 2nd place, and Ben is in 3rd place. Keep playing until you can no longer play. And don’t forget the pushups, situps, and squats. Remember, there’s money involved, so try your best to win. Play this once a week and you’re guaranteed to increase your cardio and endurance.
