If you're a First Time Palm Device User then I can only hope you've found this before doing your Software Installation...nothing to critical, but I have had others tell me they wish they had Skipped the First Hot-sync that was suggested by PALM...

Here's the Tips I always give First Time Palm Users...

Two Simple Things, Skip the Registration and Skip the First initial Hot-sync Operation

When Installing The Palm Desktop and setting up a New Palm Device...SKIP the First Time Palm Hot-sync...there is the option to do it later and I suggest you take that route...here's what to do...

Install the Palm Desktop and Skip ALL Online Operations...when asked to get ready to Hot-sync, select to Skip it...the software will install and maybe ask to reboot your computer, go head and follow thru and after all is done...

Run the Palm Desktop and in the upper Right hand Corner is a Drop Down Menu...Select -- ADD NEW USER...

Create a unique NAME/ID for your particular Device/Model...DO NOT USE YOUR FULL NAME, use an Acronym, maybe your Initials, keep it small because if you ever decide to purchase Software for your Palm -- the Security and Key-Code for the software will be based on your Hot-sync NAME/ID...

So now, once you have entered a New User...connect the Palm with the USB Cable or Cradle, again depends on your Model, and wait till the computer has found and installed the Driver for your Palm...NO OTHER USER INPUT should be required at this point...

Once the computer says New Hardware Is Ready To Use...look on your Palm for the Hot-sync Icon, located in the System Folder on the Palm...Tap on the Icon and then Tap on the Button that's on screen to begin your first Hot-sync.

By doing it this way you alleviate any problems that may occur from Drivers not getting installed properly and within a few minutes you are ready to go!!!

The Hot-sync Manager will Pop-up and ask you to select A USER...since you already made one simply select your NAME/ID from the available list...and the FIRST HOT-SYNC will begin...

Once this is done your NAME/ID will be installed on your PALM itself - and from then on you only need to TAP the Hot-sync Button to keep your Palm and Desktop Up-To-Date...

Happy Computing...I never leave the house without mine... :)

NOTE: The only way I can tell if it's worth my time to continue posting is by your vote...Please leave a YES...even if you are an experienced Palm user, can't you see the information would help a New User???
It would be greatly appreciated if a simple YES, Thank You was left to say thanks for taking the time, thanks for caring enough to write in the first place...
