I've been collecting for along time, from pennies all the way to the big platinum $100 coins, and here recently, I've noticed some real trends developing from the United States Mint.  They are producing those instant rare coins, the coins everyone normally has to wait 40, 50 or a hundred years to really get a rare one.

Just a few months ago, the Mint came out with the 20th Anniversary 3 pc. Gold and silver sets.  The Gold set was limited to 10,000 total and sold for $2610.  By the time it was delivered to the lucky person that bought it, they sold for more than $5000 anywhere you could find one and even at that price it became a good deal as they now sell ungraded for $7500 and up and will continue to grow.  The silver sets sold a max of 250,000 sets at $100 each.  They now sell for over $600 a set, unopened they go for nearly $1000.  Taking into consideration that these were always highly collectible coins, they will both surely continue to grow as demand will always outweigh supply and it's now in the secondary market that demands more money year after year for short supply high demand items.

Now lets take a peek at the next big hot item the mint is going to sell on June 19th 2007.  The presidential First Spouse coins that contain 1/2 ounce of pure gold and have a denomination of $10 per coin and that will sell only 40,000 total coins of each First spouse broken up into two versions, the Proof and the uncirculated.  If everyone buys half and half, that will lead to 20,000 proofs and 20,000 Uncirculated versions, a very low mintage for any gold coin.  But also add the historic fact that these coins will be the first to depict presidential spouses in a series, each person or household can only purchase 5 coins of each version and they contain pure gold.  These coins will explode in value and see very high returns for those lucky enough to buy them.  Collectors will most certainly need to buy from the secondary market as I see these coins selling out on the first or second day the mint releases them.  My prediction and it's only my prediction, but I'm almost always right when it comes to coin values, the coins will be worth at least double by the time a lucky buyer gets them from the mint and in the next 5 years, each coin will almost certainly be worth in excess of $2000-$3000 each.  Supply will never meet demand!

Update:  The prices of these coins have stagnated due to high trading, I think I just saw over 390 of these coins for sale on Ebay right now.  This is becuase many fools are looking for a quick buck, and I do mean buck!  Now is not the time to sell these coins as the prices have stagnated at roughly $500 to $600 a coin.  That is however a great purchase price...these coins will be worth much more in the next few years.

When these coins were released, I was on the money with my prediction that they would be doubled, they were exactly that.  But now, too many people are selling at low prices and the true investors/coin dealers are having a field day raking them in at low markups.  MY ADVICE:   BUY NOW/DON'T SELL until they have gone well over $1000 a coin, trust me, it's only a matter of a few months, the market cannot, and I mean cannot stay in a secondary market at prices this low.....listen now or wish you had.  By the way, the Jefferson Liberty will be a huge coin and will help to spring new life back in the Martha and Abigaile.  Prices are goin to climb next week! Good luck!

Update:  30 Aug 07:  If you don't know yet, the 3rd addition (Jefferson Liberty) to this collection is sold out again in first few hours.  Watch for prices of all coins to jump higher very shortly; probably last chance to grab any of these coins for low prices...buy now or forever hold your peace.

***** Nov 07 *****  If you have not understood the impact these coins will have yet for future investments, you'd better study Rare Gold coins on the fast track at this point.  It has simply amazed me at how low the prices are going for these rare coins, not only are they gold, but they are .9999 24K gold half ounce coins.  This is only the second time in US History that a Gold be made from this pure of gold content.  They are also limited editions, with the best case senario being 20,000 coins of either Proof or Mint Strike Uncirculated.  There are 3 ways this coin will increase in value...and will.  First, The limited production or mintage is extreamly low, this alone makes coins sky rocket in price.  Second, the bullion or spot price of the material it's made of, in this case 24K Gold (.9999 fine), the bullion price on these coins alone have risen over $120 an ounce since the first introduction of these coins in on June 19th, setting an ounce of gold melt value at $806 on 2 Nov 07.  And third, certification, if you own a Certified, by either NGC or PCGS MS or Proof 70 of one of these coins, their totals are below 2000 coins, that's about 10% of an already low production.  These coins are sleeping right now....they shouldn't be, so either buy them at this low point and hold for investment or collection, and watch you benifits rise.  People....gold isn't going down, it's going to go way up.  Everyone likes to buy things too late, when the prices have already risen.  If you miss the boat on this coin, and I'm guessing your reading my guide...you'll kick yourself forever.  Sleeper, is the coin...don't get caught sleeping on purchasing one, you'll miss out big time.
