We've all been there at one point or another in our lives searching for jeans that actually FIT. Most of us settle for jeans that have some of what we're looking for, but certainly don't fit into the perfect mold. This process can be even more difficult for newly pregnant women. Below are a few tips to consider when purchasing Maternity jeans for your growing belly and body.
- Belly panel -- long gone are the days of having to wear the full belly panel to keep your pants up! Many designers and popular brands are designing jeans with a small under belly panel that not only stays up, but is far more comfortable than the itchy overstretched full belly panel of old. Most under belly pants are about 2-4" wide and made from cotton/spandex.
- Fabric -- Although looking for a stylish fit, jeans should always have some degree of a cotton/spandex blend. The higher the spandex content the more stretch/give you will have which extends the life of your jeans. 2-3% Spandex is the norm.
- Quantity -- Contrary to popular belief, you don't need several different sizes for each stage of your pregnancy (unless you gain a large amount of weight). I gained 50 lbs with my first child and wore the same size Mommi Jeans for all 9 months and even after I gave birth. Many women find they need one size larger for late in the last trimester.
- Transition -- In the first trimester, you sometimes find you don't fit into your old jeans but you're not quite big enough for Maternity clothing. Both Celebrity Pink and Mommi jeans are perfect for the first trimester as well as the transition period after birth. They have super stylish designer pocket styles and long lengths for tall mothers as well. GAP Maternity also offers stylish jeans to fit you from day one through giving birth.
Bottom line is you don't have to look dowdy and frumpy or be uncomfortable anymore! Being pregnant is a wonderful and beautiful time in a woman's life. Celebrate it by looking and feeling fabulous.
