As summer winds down, people are beginning to spend more time indoors.  Couch potato time can be well spent and productive by creating one of a kind hand crafted gifts.  Counted cross stitch is simple and fun.  I have seen stitchers in the age range from 7 to 87.  Counted cross stitch is a peaceful retreat from a hectic life.  Best of all, it requires little room and minimal supplies.  As you purchase supplies, make sure to match the fabric to the size of the finished piece you would like.  Also, keep in mind that very young and older eyes can see the holes better in the lower count fabrics, such as 11 and 14.  Start with a small project, such as a bookmark with your initials, to make you feel like you have accomplished something.  As you show it off, you will feel pleased and begin to crave more.
