Men’s Jewelry
Today’s men are becoming more and more jewelry-conscious.
They are interested in brand name watches and cufflinks, rings and bracelets as where featured in the first issue of Men’s Vogue.
The trend was started by the growing number of male celebrities who turn up the red carpet adorned with jewelry.
Another trend is the popularity of jewelry and accessories among rappers and hip hop artists, which has filtered down to the male population in general.
According to IDEX online research men’s jewelry sales represent about 9% of the fine jewelry market in the US, half of the sales are watches and half jewelry .But there are still no break down figures available on men’s jewelry sales.
Only one survey has tried to find out about men’s jewelry wearing habits, the Jewelry Consumer Opinion Council, who found that nearly 75% of the 500 men it surveyed wear jewelry. 25 % of respondents said that they would like to wear more jewelry or were open to the idea of wearing more jewelry if they knew that women would find them sexy in it, at least 80% of 2200 women surveyed said that they do!!!.
Female respondents say that jewelry looks good against a man’s skin and they see it as a sign of confidence when men where jewelry.
So much so, that 40% of the women who answered the survey believe that men should wear more than just a watch and a wedding band.
Men’s jewelry seems to becoming more popular but there is still a long way to go!
