There are many ways to fight bone cleaver, Ive searched the web for hints and tips.
Ive tried rolling around him to make him go into his four attack string and afterwards, roll in and do a XX or XY combo, it works but the timing is crucial, Conan didnt fare too well or my control of that scheme didnt fare too well.
Traditionally, you can feign an attack and roll back, this worked but this too required crucial timing, My timing worked some of the time but I didnt do well most of the time.
I just started this game and started on Hard.
Ive found what works for me is the same tactic I used on the snake Chimera Boss fight. I threw axes. When fighting bone crusher again on that level where he and his his cat attacks.
I found getting rid the cat first is best.
First battle and second battle, He has four types of attacks, 1) his combo attack that ends with his sword (mace) hitting the ground creating a damaging shockwave, 2) a single swing that may be accompanied by a sword (mace) hit on the floor thud shockwave thing, 3) a kick if you get too close may be followed by a single (mace) swing and/or sword (mace) floor thud shockwave and more importantly his bola, which he throws and if your caught in it, you must button mash "B" to release yourself or he will lop Conans block off.
Start of the second battle, Cleaver will change weapons to a mace, I would suggest rolling to farthest away from him, or away from the camera, next to the flame, he does a floor shockwave slam with his mace, usually he will do it, occassionaly he wont but just to be on the same side, just runaway from him on the start of the second level. Someone had told me there is a "B" button at the end of the first battle, I havent seen it, must be on the lower difficulties that allow the second fight to be skipped.
In the second battle, he swings the mace around and thumps it on the ground for a shockwave, two things can be done to avoid the shockwave, jump, roll or be away from him. In the second level, the bola attack is the same way, also if you are able to time your attacks, there is a two-handed sword available when he is about to make his bola attack, he will flash a blue light which is the same time you should throw the two handed sword at him and quickly afterwards roll away (sideways) from the incoming bola attack, the twohanded sword does a little bit more of damage, however you must be a good distance away from him and you must be correctly facing him (usually he will move around too close and it may too late to for you roll away to a safe distance and regain your "facing him" position) thats why I prefer the two swords or two axes because the first axe lines you up for the second axe throw to make its mark.
Also if you throw the boxes, vases at the moment he makes a single strike attack, you can do a lot of damage, timing is key and it took me to throw five items to zero his health, otherwise he will automatically block it and nothing happens..
1.You will need two axes or two swords, (there is a stocked axe stand on your left, or Conans left when he meets Bonecrusher again)
2. keep your distance
3. throw the 1st axe (RT) right trigger and immediately throw the 2nd axe (RT), He will block the first axe and usually after his block, he will use his bola attack which brings him open for attack and he takes damage from the 2nd axe.
4. After you throw the second axe, immediately use the (LS) left stick to roll away, sideways.
5. You need to retrieve your axes, keeping your distance and rolling if he does his bola attack again, lure him away, retrieve your axes using the (RB) Right Button when you see the two swords symbol in a "X" fashion appear on your screen (if you have your options screen indicators set to "On") Make sure to retrieve your items or they will dissappear or "float" away
6. Repeat.
Im playing this game on Hard,so far this technique works for the 1st part of the battle and apparently works for the second half of the battle too.Its a slow nickel and dime process but it seems to work for me, hopefully this technique can be helpful to you.
I forgot about the last part of the final 2nd battle...then of course, after you lower his health on the final second fight, you must rush close to him to press the "B" button, if you do not, Bonecrusher gains infinite health until he does a certain attack move and you must be right near him for the "B" to appear again. Sucks to do all that work to lower his health to zero, to do it twice and at the moment when he hits zero on the second battle, you must be near him, you must press "B" or he will gain infinite health and you must wait for that special attack move and then hope your next to him, some moves may appear the same, but arent, only mash you down to restart the second part again and again.Basically, know when your last hit will zero his health, roll right at him and press "b", its automatic the first time it appears and if you miss it,...well.. then you probably wont get the "30G Whos your daddy" achievement because youll get mashed and will have to start the second part over again.
